Are onboard RAID arrays driverless yet?

I haven't been keeping up on chipsets too much, so can someone tell me, are we at the point yet where I can attach 2 drives to something like an ICH6R and make a RAID1 completely by BIOS/firmware, so I can then install an OS directly to the array without pressing F6 or something and inserting a floppy?

RAID needs drivers.

Not sure about SATA2 controllers and drive combinations but id still say you need drivers for RAID.

Everything needs drivers.

WinXP64 has sata drivers, so you don't need to the floppy thing with it, but for the old fashioned XP you still need to add the drivers during install (unless you have them slipstreamed into your install disk).

And obviously Linux has supported sata out of the box for like, 40 years or something, as usual.

Gentoo 1.4 supported my sata out of the box. Had to slipstream XP though, but it's not that hard.
