Anyone else unable to switch to bluetooth headphones during ongoing call?

Why is it that it seems like if I already have an ongoing call, it seems less likely for my BT headphones to work with the phone? Usually I can sync them without much trouble, but I had a FB messenger voice call earlier, and couldn't get them to work while the person was on the phone. Is that a common thing or just me?
 
Dunno about using FB messenger, but I've never had that particular issue on a normal phone call and switching to a BT headset (or my car's BT) mid call is a pretty common occurrence for me as well.
 
Hm I tested it some more and it seems like it's 100%: if I have the FB voice call going, I have to hang up to properly sync them. I tried it like 3 times now, and every time it worked just fine after I ended the call but wouldn't work if I tried to do it while it's going. Kinda annoying.
 
that is an app programming issue. Apple, Android, and Windows Phone can all switch to and from BT handset while on a call..
