Any problem with using standard ATi catalysts on a Mobile Radeon 9600?

When I had Nvidia cards, there was no problem using the standard Nvidia drivers with the Mobile GF4, but I've heard that there can be problems with the mobile radeon and the ATi drivers, and ATi says the same thing. So, is there any truth to this? Do the Omega drivers work with the card? Is there a way to get the updated drivers to work with the card, even though it isn't supported?
 
You most likely need to check with the notebook manufacturer for updating your mobile video card.
