Any idea what would cause this in a monitor/how to fix it (if possible?)

I've had this cloudy spot on my monitor in the corner for over a year now.. I think.
It APPEARS, I think, to be behind the glass, or something? (Like, if you look at an angle, it'll appear differently, etc, I don't know if I'm describing that well, haha.) It also seems to be getting bigger :/ It's warranty has long expired, so I really hope I'm not going to have to buy a new monitor :(

i have something similar on my samsung 2333t when i press against a part of the panel too hard
have to "massage" the afflicted area to make it go away again

in your case it seems unfixable though
 
Looks like some form of de-lamination or separation inside the LCD. I don't think it can be "fixed"
 
Its the anti-glare/protective coating that is loosening. Thats a plastic film which is glued on top of the polarizer of the screen. It comes off and can be removed, but not totally without risks (polarizer is made of many strains which can seperate after your remove the plastic film). Here you can see picture of people removing it (to get rid of anti-glare and make the screen glossy):
