Hi everyone, I'm a long time reader with a question...

I put together a DFI NF3 250Gb
A64 3000+ Newcastle, Zalman 7000b AlCu HSF
2 x 1GB DDR PC-3200 Patriot Memory
1 x 74GB Raptor
2 x 200Gb Seagate SATA
ATI 9800 AIW /Silencer
Turtle Beach 'Catalina' sound card
Pioneer DVR-108
Samsung DVD Rom
Yamaha CRW-F1
In-Win memory card reader
Floppy dr
Antec 1080 with 5 x L1a Panaflos, Sunbeam fan controller

Powered by an Antec Neo 480 and protected by a Back UPS XS 1000...

I've "run the numbers" from http://takaman.jp/D/index.html?english

my results -
http://takaman.jp/D/?M=PbQDQadXhSCgHKTRT6U$UcXAXfYaZAZavXB0aOP&english

Summer room temps ~80's , Winter room temps ~ low 70's...

My question is do I have enough 'cushion', or is this power supply maxed out. Do I need to look higher?

Thanks for reading...

well that was an invalid url for the config when I tried it
but I quickly threw a config on that
http://takaman.jp/D/?M=PbQDQbdXhSASrhHKTcjH3UcYbZAZavXC0aMP&english

100% utilization of drives and fans (which isnt going to happen)
+3.3V @ 2.7
+5V @ 23.1
+12V @ 24.2

and again with the +12V rails broken out seperately
http://takaman.jp/D/?M=PbQDQbdXhSASrhHKTcjH3UcYbZAZavXC0aMP&english
+12V1 @ 11.8
+12V2 @ 12.4
meaning the mobo, CPU, RAM, cards, and the AGP Power via the slot (see below) on +12V1

and the neopower with my typical temperature compensation
Temp........................25C..........40C
+12V1......................18A...........12A
+12V2......................15A............10A

but your OK because the full load on the +12V2 rail isnt going to happen at the same time
the drives will require their fu8ll load at spinup, but a quarter of it after they are spinning
so Id avoid throwing in 2 DVD and a CD then starting the computer :p
though your likely able to do that anyway, since at that time the PSU would also be cold and thus able to produce more power as well :p

I think your safety margins are good ;)

(PS I used the RADEON 9700 Pro for the estimate cause Im in a hurry)
and I flubbed it a bit since I didnt break the AGP and auxillary power out seperately again because I have to go to work, but it still looks good, as I estimate it, I'll try to get more accurate numbers for you later ;)

i'm using a neo power 480 and its quite stable

Abit AA8 Duramax 925 based mobo
P4 540 aka 3.2ghz prescott
2x 1gb DDR2 PC-4200 Samsung memory
1x 74gb raptor
3x 200gb Seagate SATA
Nvidia 6800 GTO PCI-EX 256mb
SB Audigy2zs modded
Pioneer DVR-108
Nec-3100A
Mountainmods.com twice7 case with 3x 120mm sanyo denki, 2x panaflo l1a, and thermaltake silentcat on XP-90

120mms controlled by vantec nexus

2x Dual cold cathodes in system as well.

Ice Czar,
Thank-you for your reading and responding to my thread. I am very happy with my computer, but was concerned I might have been 'under powered' on my power supply when you factor in my room temps...

Thank-you again. Hope you and your family have a nice Holiday!

ufokillerz,
Thank-you also for reading and responding! I see you have even more "stuff" running off the same p/s, and I am reassured I made a good choice for my power supply.

Thank-you. Enjoy the Holiday!

thank you its what we are here for
have a happy holiday yourself ;)

wasnt able to definatively find figures for the vidcard breakout between the rails
you are creeping up on the +12V2 limit, the fact you have a UPS is very helpful, just makes the PSU have to workless with a stable voltage
I still think your good to go, but if your contemplating additional upgrades Id consider having the case exhausted some other way than through the PSU, which will drop its operating temperature and increase its capacity (make sure it still has a good airflow of its own)

as mentioned +12V1 powers PCI cards and you have a ways to go on that rail
but I think a 6 drive RAID array would need to go in another box :p
