AMD Noob Question

I got a quick question to run by you all. I know how the FSB works with Intel based processors but have found little information on the AMD ones. The simple question is, what is the motherboard/CPU realtion? Like for the Athlon 64 X2 5600 which runs at 2000Mhz System Bus. What is the requirement on the motherboard. And can the motherboard have a higher Bus speed then the processor, and if so by what threshold.

Any info, or a site link with all this info.

That article/guide is more for Phenom's but it does go into good detail how Athlons work so Phenoms can be compared. Should give all the details I can think of anyways,
