I have nothing against the game personally, I just find it hard nowadays to buy the latest and greatest and get a run for my money's worth.

Plus, BF3 would probably rape my E8400 / HD4770 @ 1680x1050.

I felt a little let down with BC2, but that has to do with playstyle of teammates.

Am I insane/alone in this?

Edit regarding morons: This isn't a thread about boycotting. I am not boycotting EA or this game. Learn to read.

bf3 is far superior to BC2 i played BC2 for a while and coudnt get into it. Now bf3 on the other hand is awesome.

Oddly for me a large factor in not buying it is that it's not on Steam and I don't want to use Origin.

This probably means I'll be sitting out the betafield series for a while.

The way battleog is setup, I very much doubt bf3 would be able to work on steam. Better get comfy, you may be sitting out the battlefield series for a very long... long time.

Meh, not playing BF3 isn't any loss. There are many other games that keep one busy. I didn't buy it and I won't be buying it unless it makes it to Steam and doesn't require me to use Origin.

Considering that some 10 million people didn't have any issue with Origin I doubt that it will ever be "Origin-free" and I am OK with BC2 having been the last Battlefield game I purchased.

I have a lot less time for games these days and there are so many others that are entertaining and don't require Origin.

You won't try Origin but will use Steam. Hypocrite to the max.

Id love to play it but im sitting it out case screw EA and screw Origin.

well if you get more jollies out of NOT playing the most awesome game of 2011 and 2012... and get creepy kicks making up threads like this, then you my good friend are "winning" as sheen says.

Honestly -- this game is good enough to the point where if EA/origin required a specific scan of my porno folder - I'd be okay with it just to be able to play this game :)

THAT is how good it is...

It's like the first time I saw porn...BF3 was like that :p

I played the beta (which is how I formed my opinion on origin) so I can say confidently that the above opinions are way over exaggerated.

I was hardcore into Dark Messiah, but I broke down and started Playing Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines for the first time(in the haunted house. This is the first game to give me the willies since the long hallways in Max Payne and FEAR ). Even if I wasn't playing those I'm also working my way through Dead Space 2.

Honestly I have a massive amount of games I need to finish so I'm not in any hurry to play BF3. From what I've seen it's more BC2 with no destructible environments so meh get it when it's $15-20.

I'm not into multiplayer so I'm waiting until the price is lower.

The vast majority of people sit out even the most popular games, it really isn't anything special, it is way more common for someone to not buy a game than buy it.

Take Halo 3 for instance, super popular and mainstream title for the 360 crowd and exclusive on it (so they are not buying it elsewhere), 11.4m units sold compared to 57m 360s sold. That means more than 4/5 of 360 owners decided not to buy it.

I'm sitting it out too, I have no intentions of buying it. EA can diaf.

I wasn't bashing Origin or praising Steam. I just said I'm sitting this one out due to other interests in my life and my system wouldn't be able to handle at native resolution reasonably anyway. Nothing more, nothing less.

Rather support crappy console gaming by buying console games! (Dark Souls, while it may be a good game still supports console gaming)

the beta, the enormous fuzz generated over Origin in germany, the improvements needed in Origin stability/squad stuff in battlelog/voicechat etc, the singleplayer

Im content that I cancelled my preorder. The BF games usually need some love after launch, this one seems no different. I'll wait :)

I need a new PC altogether to run BF3 properly and I'm not too keen on getting the crappy console version, so sitting this one out for the near future. The beta failed to impress me, but that is probably due to how terribly bad the Operation Metro Rush map was and the "move=instadeath" bug.

Yeah that map was so bad. The move insta death bug is fixed.

With EA blasting through sales records, I don't think they will notice you three people not buying the game to just show them. So, I would give in and just get the game and have a blast with the rest of us. :)

Honestly, it's one of the best games I have ever played. I even like the Battlelog. If you have friends, it's so handy and much better than a in game browser. Think of it as Battlefield Facebook without your mom as your friend. If you don't have friends playing the game... I can see how the Battlelog can be an empty experience.

To the OP, I was playing the Beta a few days on my old PC before I got my new one, an e8400 3.6Ghz and a 6850 GPU. It wasn't bad. 30 FPS and it was doable. I didn't monkey with the settings at all, I think though they were on medium. It's too bad you didn't try the beta so you would know if your PC would handle it.

Not really. I'm sure lots of those Xboxs red ringed, broke and had to be replaced inflating the sales figures.

sitting it out......

nah, fuck that, bought it from amazon today,
BF:BC2 was one of most enjoyable gaming experiences ever

Granted that is true, but even if you use the worst possible numbers for failure that is still several times more nonbuyers vs. buyers, which is the point. Even for the most popular, well received, and mainstream games several times more people don't buy it compared to those who buy it. So people not buying a game is not anything special or indicative of anything.

If a game ever achieves market penetration where not buying it is the exception, than that game would be doing sales numbers that make the likes of CoD, WoW and etc. look like complete failures.

Holy jumping fucking Jesus, reading comprehension!

I'm not boycotting the game, please read the OP.

When are people going to learn that not purchasing a game because you hate the company doesn't hurt anyone but yourselves. No one cares if you hate EA, including EA.. The less you hate, the more fun you'll have..... These gaming companies don't own any of us shit, and you dont owe them anything as well, but the constant complaining of not purchasing a game because you dislike a company or develop ( cough cliffyb) is getting old....

I wasn't going to buy it on release after playing the horrible Alpha and mediocre Metro Beta map.

But then we Caspian went up..... I preordered as soon as the beta was over.

I like how you put in caps that we were morons and then quickly edited it. That's cute. Just curious, did I call you out specifically ? Did anyone call you out specifically? Did "yossarian22" pop up at all in my post?

Those are the posts most of us were making comments on. It's time to grow up kid.

LOL you need to examine your own reading comprehension ability. I specifically addressed you in my post and it had nothing to do with boycotting.

We have no problem with you sitting it out, there are enough retards playing the game as is.

I have learned my lesson: I don't like the Battlefield style of play. You call it meticulous and strategic, I call it boring and campy. I even felt ripped off getting BC2 for $5 on Steam sale because I played an hour of it and was bored into a state resembling rigor mortis.

i'm holding out until they patch it. I have no desire to play a buggy game fun as it may be.

I'm skipping it. Not going to set up yet another account just to play this game. GFWL, Steam, and Gamespy are already more services I want to be signed into to play games. Not adding another one to the mix. Plenty of other games to play anyway.

How would they be harmed? Not buying one game, regardless of reason, hardly constitutes harm. I doubt anyone that decided to not buy the game, so much as lost a minute of sleep, or a minute of fun, over, or due to, the decision.

Yes.

With that said I don't blame you. It really wouldn't be an enjoyable experience on that system. Whenever you build your next system make sure to pick it up though :D Maybe you'll be able to grab it on the cheap then.
