i have a company issued iphone 4 which we are allowed to use for personal use. We are not supposed to text due to the service contract on the phones with them so I use the aim free app. This is prolly a very dumb question but I just wanted to make sure: the aim app is not using "texting" resources right? Also any ideas of the security within the app as far as encrypting conversations? I know they can monitor what is texted or sent through our Exchange email servers but can they monitor what is IM'd through the aim app?

thanks

I think with AIM, you can still send "texts" through the aim protocol to mobile phones still. A couple months back, I was able to add a phone number to AIM, and then, at least on my Palm Pre using the built in AIM messenger, send an IM to a phone thru text. No text message charges were applied to my bill for it. And the mobile user could reply to the text and I got it back on AIM.
