Hey,

My friends Dell:

http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...cs.htm#1103387

says it has a 2x/4x AGP slot, correct?

would a 8x/4x card like an x1300Pro work in there? or would he have to get a 2x/4x card like this have to do it:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...SubCategory=48

Could the 8/4x juss go to 4x and the 2x/4x slot go to 4x?

Or is it completely different spec?

Becuase we tried an x1600 pro in it and it didnt work, on the box it only said AGp 8x, is it possible it was only an 8x not a 4x/8x and thats why it didnt work, or are all 8x also 4x?

Thanks

Ok, if his rig is x2/x4 and the card is x4/x8 it will work in AGP 4x. It should be find.

Yeh thats what I said...but it doesnt...

Maybe its because its a Dell mobo and they like men?

Try setting the AGP speed in the BIOS then, that maybe why it's not working.

check the voltages.....newer AGP cards only do 1.5v....older AGP's did 3.3v I think....so your friend's AGP slot must be the older kind if that ATI 8x card didn't work.

Many many men.

But yeah, my mobo only has up to 4x agp and my 6800gs Agp works fine. Agp 4x isn't really a bottleneck anyways....

Isn't the AGP slot keyed? (pretty sure it is)
so you can't insert an incompatible card
