  • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
  • 500 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)

  • 8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
  • 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870
This one comes out to 1239 after coupon.

The 15" has the best specs, but in the 17" I could stick the 80gb intel SSD that im keeping. The coupon ends friday so im not gonna be able to save any more money.

This only has to hold me over until around tax time. Ill do a new build then. Hopefully sandybridge and some new video cards will be out. Ill the alienware as a lan and recliner computer then.

If you guys have a better suggestion let me know.
I saw a m17x at frys a couple of months back and was floored at the design and build quality.
Budget is around 1300-1400

Lol i dont think theres much difference between the two. When your already like 9 pounds and extra 1.5 pounds isnt gonna hurt.

I used to have a xps m170.
17" 1920x1200
pentium m 2.0
7800m gtx
I kept that laptop almost a year. Thats the longest ive ever kept one lol. Its 7800 was almost as fast as the desktop version... so at the time I could play everything maxed out.

I keep doing this... Ill build a desktop. Run it about 6 months then sell and get laptop, then ill sell the laptop and throw a few hundred in and get a better system than I had before.

I think the problem is that I keep getting macbook pros. Every game runs like shit on them and makes me miss my desktop

You could always purchase a optical drive bay converter for the 15" and run 2 HDs, put the SSD in it and use it as the boot drive.

I would agree with the others and say the 15 is the better deal, but it also depends on the resolution. If the 15" has a lower max the 5850 should be more than adequate.
