I'm experiencing a weird problem with my Abit OTES GF4 4200. It is on an Abit KR7A-133R that is running 4x, 64 MB AGP aperture, and Side-band addressing enabled.
When using any nvidia driver, I would occasionally get a scrambled screen that looks like a white background with some colored square blotches on it. It would happen at boot-up at times, other times when using explorer. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to when it will does it and nothing shows up in event viewer.
I thought it might be a driver issue so I reformatted and reinstalled XP. It runs fine without any driver installed, using the default Standard VGA driver. I tried nVidia 53.09 and I started getting the funky screen again. Did a restore back to pre-driver, tried 40.72 WHQL, same problems.
Is the card beginning to go? If so, why only with nVidia drivers? I was wondering if the side-band addressing might be causing this?
Any suggestions?
