hey.

yeah, so i was installing my new DVD writer, and when looking inside my case, i saw that the northbridge heatsink fan was HANGING OFF the motherboard, TOUCHING my video card!!!!!

i believe my words were: "what in the crap?"

then i wondered why my system was so perfectly stable, since i'm running my FSB at 250MHz, but i really don't have an answer for that. Just thank GOD that they build these chipsets pretty good.

the staple-looking thing that's soldered to the motherboard had pulled out. I carefully re-bent the hold-down clip (this is the Orb-style heatsink that has a wire hold down, not the older one that looks like a blue flying saucer) to make it fit the other two holders.

crazy.

those loops don't go all the way through the motherboard and are far too flimsy for the amount of pressure they are expected to counterract.

My IS7 northbridge fan fell off months ago. I then took off the stock nb heatsink and thermal glued on a Zalman nb heatsink without a fan. The system's been running great overclocked.
