My friend has Samsung SyncMaster 971p. It's a great monitor, was quite a hit in its time. But from modern perspective a 19" 4:3 monitor is not exactly the best choice for multimedia and games.

So we need a widescreen replacement for it. Here's the list of preferences:

Manufacturer: Samsung
Panel type: PVA
Size: 24"
Format: 16:10

The rest is "negotiable", so to speak.

The PC in question has several users with different needs, so the display should be kinda all-rounder. Good and sufficiently accurate colors for displaying graphics content correctly (standard images with sRGB profiles and such, nothing really pro) and fast enough for FPS games (well, the 971p has 5ms and apparently something like this should be enough).

So far my only candidate is SyncMaster 244T-BK. Any better suggestions? The price range is up to $500-600.

Samsung no longer makes 16:10 S-PVA panels, they stopped a few years ago. Your preferences limit you to hunting down an old used model (Dell 2408, Samsung 245t, but both of these have massive input lag and are wide gamut). Only eizo sells new 16:10 s-pva like the foris fx2431 but it is 1100$+.

All new VA panels are 16:9. The Samsung S24A650D is currently the best....they sell for sub 250$
