980 Ti SLI frametimes!?!

nvidia seems rather mum about frame times as of late. anecdotally, about the same time amd dropped xdma on us i suspect. their advertising narrative now is very much about one card to rule them all. unsurprisingly, amd seems to have followed suit with how they're promoting fury x. its a mistake in my opinion as one of the better selling points of hawaii is its smoother multi gpu experience. something i witnessed with my own eyes and was pleasantly surprised by after years of grumbling about their smoothness.
I barely researched this, but it seems the effects of adaptive refresh rates carry over to SLI setups.
what does this mean?
