8X Media On 4X Burner???

Alright, I accidentally bought 8X media the other day to use on my cousin's burner, which is a dual format 4X (it's a Lite-On LDW-411S, very common drive). I was wondering if anyone knew if it would work with 8X media without an update to the formware, and if not, if they knew of any formware that would allow this burner to write to 8X media at 4X. I know I could flash ot to an 811S, but that's a little risky and time consuming, so I'm hoping for a faster and simpler solution...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

the 8x media should burn fine at 4x.. and IMHO, the flash from 411 to 811 is rather foolproof (did it myself on 2 drives wiht no problems)
