8.3 and CrossfireX Mark06 Results :(

I am not too happy with my first results with 3DMark 06

Defaults settings netted me:

8.3 - 3870x2 CrossfireX - 10562
8.3 - (1) 3870x2 - 12916

8.2 - (1) 3870x2 - 17625
 
Ok, tried COD4 at 1920x1200 with the highest settings.

Single card was 30-50 fps
CrossfireX was 60-90 fps

I am happy about this. :)

Intel Q6600 @ Stock 2.4ghz

12,828 marks

I practically got the same score on the default settings [1280x1024, no aa/af]

I wouldn't worry about 3dmark as long as your games are running fine, which they seem to be for you just fine.

The crossfirex score sounds like its only using 1 gpu there could be a setting in CCC somewhere that you have to set.

Side note: Any crysis players with 3870x2 try out patch 1.2 yet? Should run smoother now.
 
yo i just tried these Xtreme G drivers. they are modded ATi drivers.

I can play crysis on 1280x960 on all medium settings, and crysis runs at like 40 FPS. this is with the 1.1 patch, haven't even tried the 1.2 patch!
and with my 3870 on the way, dang it i might just have to crossfire that puppy too!

That can't be right... you got two 2900xt and that's it? I got one 3870 and hit about 25-35fps at 1024x768 with 4AA, and that's with a few options set to high.

I thought the 1.2 patch was kinda/sorta multiplayer only? I scanned the release notes quickly didn't see anything about improvements...

Dont know if you fixed or not but a buddy of mine had the same problem he ended up fixing it by using drive clean reg clean and whatever else he had and reinstalled 8.3.

I did all that just to get 8.3 installed.

I wonders if others are having the same issue?
 
I don't mind if it sacrifices 3dmark scores by alot if it elevates every modern game to better frame rates and fewer or no bugs.
 
Well, I get around 19,000 with one 3870 X2 and my e8400 at 4.3Ghz.
I have seen many around with two that get above 20,000.

That sounds about right.

As I run 06, I can see the FPS go as high as 100 then down to 8
 
In 3DMark06 i get 19k with 1 3870x2 and about 22 with 2. At high resolution with AA and AF 3DMark scales very well with 4 GPUs. I can almost get 20k 3DMarks at 1920x1080 4x16x.
 
Last night i was trying to do some cpu overlcocking and ended up locking up my system. I had to remove one of my X2's to get to the CMOS reset on my foxconn mobo. Anywho, reset the cmos, seated the card back into the pci-e slot and booted up. i get into vista and crossfire is disabled. after uninstalling, booting in safe mode and running driver cleaner, and then booting up and reinstalling the 8.3's, i got some weird results.

Before all this, RivaTuner would detect clock speeds and temp just fine, but not fan duty cycle. After I did all this and reinstalled the 8.3's, now it doesn't detect the clocks right, but now detects the fan correctly. very strange.

Even stranger, I decided to load up Crysis @ 1920x1200 all high, I got a solid 30-45 FPS with no hitching. I'm thinking it's an odd fluke though. Something is definitely up, I just don't know what...lol.

I do have a ticket in with ATI about the Powerplay bug though. I really hope they get that sorted out soon.
 
True, but should one 3870x2 run that bad on 8.3?

I wonder if I will gain FPS in games when I upgrade to Vista?
 
visiontek HD3870 x2 in crossfire i got 20,777 in 3DMark06 and gotten like 14,555 with one single card on 8.2 CCC :)

E8400 @4.2ghz
8gb ram
vista 65 ultimate
