I've always found this era of history just fascinating. It's the technology. Stop and think about what they had then vs now. We really have come a long way. It was incredible how much was done manually and in this case all the horses and carriages! Now we take for granted how much is simpler. Forgot feeding the horse, you gas up your car in minutes and off you go at speeds they couldn't even imagine at that time.
Probably why I like my job....old nuke plant. Many things are manually driven because the technology just didn't exist when it was built. Amazing humans were even able to pull it off.
