42" Westy + xbox 360: component vs. hdmi

I recently got the 42" Westinghouse hdtv as I mentioned in the title, however my 360 does not have hdmi output. I understand that over component I'm limited to 1080i, correct? Is the difference in image quality, if any, worth trying to upgrade to a 360 that has hdmi output?

If your TV does 1080P then the component will display 1080P and if you TV is 720p then the component will 1080i but you would want to do 720p.
