I was just looking over the release schedule for 2024. Looks like a good year for hitting the back catalog. Not much on the immediate horizon in terms of AAA releases in 2024.

Not surprising considering how awesome 2023 was.

Thoughts?

2023 is only awesome compared to 2022 which was the worst year for gaming since I've been playing games (which is a long ass fucking time ago). I think objectively 2023 was only OK.
As for 2024, I hope it will surprise me. I'll reserve judgement until end of Q3.

I don't know, the releases I'm looking forward to are pretty packed right now. Looking forward to in the near future (all PC unless otherwise noted):

These are the only ones that might interest me from this list

02/28/2024 - Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster - if it is cheap enough for nostalgia's sake otherwise wait for sale
03/21/2024 - Horizon: Forbidden West - wait for sale
05/21/2024 - Senua's Saga: Hellblade II - wait for sale
09/05/2024 - S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl - probably day 1, unless reviews are bad
??/??/2024 - Star Wars Outlaws - wait and see if it is good, maybe it's worth one month of ubisoft+
??/??/2024 - Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown - Either a sure fire hit, or complete garbage, gameplay and wheel support will decide, I think it will be delayed to 2025
??/??/2024 - Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 - This game is / has been? in development hell. Lots of bad signs, must do a deep dive into reviews before touching it, unlikely to be released in 2025.

One of these threads comes up every year,

No, there is not a "drought" - you just arent interested in what is coming. Every year, more and more titles are released than the year before. There will never be a lack of new games.

Eiyuden Chronicle and Suikoden remasters are the only games that intrest me on that list.

09/09/2024 - Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 <----- Maybe

Those are the ones I am interested in from that list. Also interested in the following:

Metal gear Delta
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Silent Hill 2 Remake
Death Stranding 2 <---- maybe this one will slip to 2025?
Final Fantasy XVI <---- if they surprise us with a PC port this year

I also have DLC I am interested in playing, once released or I have time:

Atomic Heart
Dead Island 2
Dying Light 2
Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways
Alan Wake 2

I also have a number of games that I own or are released that I haven't yet played. Some of these games like STALKER, FF7 Rebirth (if it comes to PC this year), Horizon Forbidden West are quite long. So like always some will slip to next year.

I kind of agree. Last year was insane. Comparatively, this year is much less triple-A heavy. So, yes, good time to hit the backlog.

That said, I can’t wait for Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Forbidden West. For me, that’s a good six months or more right there.

Shadow of the Erdtree!!!...that's all I need in 2024 :D

the other big ones I'm looking forward to in 2024: Black Myth: Wukong, Dragon's Dogma 2, Horizon Forbidden West (PC), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Star Wars: Outlaws...and even though it hasn't been officially announced I'm expecting Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered (PC) along with some other PS titles

1. It would be nice for these sorts of claims, if one would substantiate their preferred genres and maybe give some examples of well liked games from the past....5 years or so.

2. In general, I tend to strictly disagree with any claims in the past decade+, that any particular year is supposedly a bad/down year for gaming. Everytime I go and look over the release lists from those years, I see lots of good games. A few days ago in another forum, someone did actually claim that 2014 (exactly a decade ago) was a terrible year for gaming. Look at the release list, and there are many good games from that year.

Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered (PC) along with some other PS titles

That one is probably likely. I assume it will come summer, 3-6 months after the PS5 release. With Horizon Forbidden West coming March they will probably space it out another quarter. Put me down for that as well.

I only wish more were coming earlier in the year. STALKER 2 and whatnot are end of year, as typical.

I'm guessing we'll also see Ghost of Tsushima on PC in 2024 as well...and hopefully Demon's Souls

according to the latest leaks/rumor: The Last of Us Part 2, God of War Ragnarok, Demon's Souls, Gran Turismo 7, and Ghost of Tsushima are coming to PC in 2024

That is a good amount of games. I didn't think Ragnarok would come, but it will be 2 years old in November. So that might come very late 2024. I didn't care that much for the previous one, but it had fun fighting gameplay so I will play the sequel.

good enough for me to look forward to right there as well.

I'll keep an eye on the others listed in the thread though.

Really?

Add Forbidden West, and you’ve got 5 huge Sony titles for the PC.

Fingers crossed.

Also, Avowed from Obsidian is looking pretty good.

So, for me, the confirmed titles I’m really looking forward to are:

Dragon’s Dogma 2
Forbidden West
Hellblade 2
Stalker 2
Avowed

If God of War 2, The Last of Us 2, Demon Souls, and Ghost of Tsushima make that list then 2024 is potentially a phenomenal year.

Quality over quantity.

2024 may be an RTS golden year.

Stormgate and ZeroSpace public betas are starting and maybe the games will come out in 2024. There are also a bunch of other lesser known RTS games in development that may come out.

Stormgate - basically StarCraft 3. A bunch of the StarCraft people that left Blizzard formed a new company and are making their own modern RTS. Free to play, campaign, coop, team games, and of course competitive 1v1.

ZeroSpace - not as high budget as Stormgate but looks really good. Has an extensive campaign and competitive multiplayer.

There is a ton of stuff I'm mainly waiting on stuff like Judas and Dragons Dogma 2 and Hellblade 2 but would love to see either Pantheon Rise of the Fallen come out or Ashes of Creation.
There hasn't been a decent MMORPG in like a Decade unless you count Black Desert Online. Throne and Liberty could be good whenever Amazon released the thing.

Maybe Tempest Rising comes out this year? Embracer Group unfortunately has taken the axe to 3D Realms, but I have not heard any news about games that were in the pipeline.

Tekken 8 and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth b9th released to huge praise.

Also some smaller stuff, like the new Mokodara or just yesterday, Celeste64.

Several of those are lazy remasters. Those never interest me. STALKER 2 and Star Wars Outlaws are pretty much the only games out of that list on my radar. The ones that aren't remasters or already mentioned are basically games I've never heard of or sequels to games I didn't care to play.

After last year, I'm not seeing much I care about this year. Last year was a banner year for releases I was looking forward to, and all but a couple turned out well.
The list up top doesn't really have much I care about except Star Wars Outlaws and Vampire Bloodlines 2, and I kinda wonder if that'll really come out this year. I'll assume the Elden Ring DLC will hit this year, so I guess there's that.

About the only game on that list that I'm looking forward to is Horizon: Forbidden West. I'm a Star Wars fan but there's no way I'm getting excited about any Star Wars game before it's released.

Same. Is there a U.S. release date yet for Throne and Liberty?

Nope, but hopefully within some 4-6 months.
I bought a korean account and ExitLag for some €15 total. ExitLag is about €5/month sub and the account I got for €10 on playerauctions.
It's very playable with some 180-190ms (for me in Sweden) and the game is fully translated to english language, just the voices that are korean.
The visuals are truly amazing and while I had limited time to play, the combat seems fun.

I'm doubting we'll see 5 big releases in one year. Most likely Horizon, TLOU2, and then some other game. I think Ragnarok will slip to early 2025.

A Capcom game slated for April, is Sand Land. Based on a Manga by Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball Z). I'm not a big Manga/Anime fan. But, I do love Toriyama's art and think this game has potential.
