Already seeing some speculation of a GTX 790. We will not know anything factual until a few weeks after the GTX 780/770 are launched. If it exist or doesn't exist in the first place.

Depends on the cost. I've seen used 690s go for $750. A new 790 could be $1200.
I rather go for the cheaper option to bridge the gap until Maxwell.

Yeah, I could imagine. Maybe it would be slightly interesting if there were any actual games that were worth dropping 2 grand on GPUs.
Crappy games aside, it's still pretty hard to get excited over parallel GPU prospects when you've been around the block. In fact it's pretty damn silly. I remember reading posts like yours more than a few times before back in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011... you get the drift.
