I have an Asus 87AC and rt66 and have been using a smart DNS service for 4-5months without issues
The asus RT66 is the main router with the DNS on it, and the asus 87 AC has been setup as an AP, getting an IP from the RT66 along with DNS. The smart DNS is for region unblocking from a 3rd party.
For the last few weeks, the AP (asus 87ac) seems to not pick up the DNS from the main RT66 at random and thus anything connected to it becomes not usable with the only solution to be a hard restart. Then after that, it does work correctly.....until the next time.
Both routers are wired, and I can max out my line (100 down)
The RT 66 is in the basement, and the AC87 is on the 2nd floor of my house, no issues with coverage/latency and speed, etc - when working.
Any thoughts on this issue - Hardware? or setup? or other?
