my 1/8" audio jack on my laptop is cracked, so my headphone cords dont stay stable and the connection is spotty. where should i take this to get it replaced? can i do it myself? should i call dell, or just go to a local audio store?
I bought one awhile ago for a really old laptop. It doesn't sound that great, but it works. Onboard notebook sound is bad anyway, so no real loss there.

Authorized repair centers usually won't solder on motherboards. Take it to a local place that repairs TVs/audio equipment and they should be able to do it. Or solder a new jack in yourself if you're capable. Else you can go for a USB solution. Probably more worth it to go USB than have it fixed, really. M-audio perhaps.
