sage pulled out some of the same wins for me too. I had a lot of the same issues, but I am fine with OTA TV.

I think the moral of this story is...stop buying so much new stuff at once and send me your cash instead. seriously though, have you tried any of the suggestions and gotten results? I have 3 kids so it would be good to know what worked since it is innevitable.

the HDMI will do audio and video, but wont send HD audio to a 2 channel playback device like the tv.

stop using sony...just kidding. I dont usually do this, but I recommend hitting up the guys at avsforum.com for this. you are using a set top player and they have way more users that have experience with those over there.

will the 360 play the standard MKV that MakeMKV puts out?

my buddy has a similar setup and uses his ironing board as a keyboard/mousing surface when PC gaming from his couch. My couch is kind of a long ways from my tv given its size so when I game I pull out the cheap video rocker that I got from target to sit on.

so what type of input are you using on your receiver for the PC? it needs spdif, coax optical, or analog 5.1 to get surround sound.

those reviewers probably didnt know how to configure their codec. it can be tricky. pass through should be pass through.

it doesnt need to "do" MKV. it just serves them up for your other pcs to "do" them. no encoding, decoding, or playback is required on the server.

headless is easy with most OS choices. I just have win7 on my server for now and use Remote Desktop to get into it. I do plan on swapping over to WHS soont hough. I didnt know sage had a WHS version or I would have done it from the start.
