Try making sure that the core/mem speeds is running at 400/1050 for dual monitors. I know that mine idles with one monitor at 157/300, but that's not fast enough for two monitors.

Did you uninstall all your Nvidia drivers? Can you boot into safe mode with the 6950?

you don't need to connect sound cables internally - the vid card will pass through audio over hdmi independent of your sound card, but you will have to select different audio apart from your regular audio (whether a sound card or onboard/motherboard audio)
