Thanks BB. Originally, I was just going to use Testdisk to extract the files I hadn't backed up yet. Which is why I ignored Motley's deuchey response earlier. But, as of this morning I have the ENTIRE ARRAY back!
I went ahead and tried swapping the order of the disks...they were def. in the...
Thanks, Zpackrat. The bios issue (reset, clear, whatever happened) caused the controller to lose the array. I rebuilt it using the CTRL+I interface during bootup so I could explore it with testdisk, and am looking at dropping the disks using the same interface.
I'm trying to figure out if...
Thanks for the insight. Believe me, I'm aware of the isht sandwhich I've given myself and am not trying to be overly-optimistic.
The way I screwed things up, I formatted Windows before it had a chance to see the RAID again, and it was already gone in the bios. Windows see's the re-created raid...
Hey folks,
I'm working on recovering files from a lost RAID 10 partition, and am trying to do things slowly and deliberately so I don't make an unrecoverable 'oopsie.'
Background: This was a software RAID 10 built with 4x 3TB drives using IRST on an ICH10R (Intel X58) controller. I don’t know...
What these guys' said. Buy from the sale/trade forum, or get one on ebay. I got one there myself just last week for $500, shipped. At $670, you could just throw another $100 at it and get a RTX 2080, which rumors to perform slightly better. There's a good amount you could save though, if you...
Saw this on Gamer's Nexus just last night, but it's from Aug 29th. They also have a teardown video on their channel, so they've been in some folks' hands for at least 2 weeks now?
Fellow Vanilla alumni here, and I have to disagree with this Xpack being unfriendly toward casuals. I've been a filthy casual since Cata launched, skipped most of MoP and WoD, and only played Legion half-heartedly. I'm really enjoying BFA, and actually find it quite accessible. Quests in the...
That's basically what I'm saying from a consumer perspective, where you are looking at it from the supplier/AIB standpoint. I think we are in violent agreement, lol.
Not sure I'm reading your question right, but I feel better buying a used card from someone on Ebay than I would if I'd bought a NIB card from an AIB, because the latter would essentially reward Nvidia's recent behavior.
I was originally excited about the 20 series, but if a 2080 ($750) is...
Ebay might fluctuate daily, but I also got a good condition 1080 Ti for $500. This was just 2 nights ago, and I watched 4 more go for $495 - $530, shipped. Ignoring the "Ti" moniker for a second, that's $260 less than my (now cancelled) 2080 pre-order, at what's looking to be about the same...
Well, I flipped my last flop last night, and bought a 1080 Ti for $500 shipped.
I had an EVGA 2080 on pre-order for $760 from newegg. Been on the fence about keeping it or not, and the recent leaks made up my mind. I decided to save myself 33% of the cost in exchange for what looks like...
I don't really understand the volume of posts suggesting early adopters are going to get a bad value. Every other post, article, or video reminds me of a teeter totter. In one opinion, it's gonna be great, with RT as an added benefit that will continue to grow. Then in another, it's all the...
I'm coming in with a 5 year old R9 290. Built a new 8700K system earlier this year, and got an Acer Predator monitor (Gsync) a few months back in anticipation of a GPU upgrade, knowing AMD would not be competitive in the high end segment.
After much flip flopping, I ended up pre-ordering a...
Personally, I've never understood paying more for a factory overclock. You can match the OCin 10 seconds with MSI Afterburner or something similar...do they tend to be higher binned or something that makes it worth the extra $?
I just had a $750 EVGA 2080 in my cart, all I had to do was finish the order...couldn't do it. It'd be one thing if we knew performance numbers, especially compared to the 1080ti...but I can't do it blindly. I would have loved to, but would have felt dirty about it at the same time...4-6 weeks...
This is my thought as well. Exactly why I held back on an EBAY 1080ti over the weekend. I figure their value is maybe $450, if its still shrink wrapped.
I was excited about the 2080 and 2080TI, but not at these rumored prices. I spent the weekend flirting with the used 1080ti's on EBAY. They seemed to be going for $500 - $550, but I thought it was too much considering a brand new 2080 might be had for $650 or $700. If they really are ~$800...
I liked Discovery as a sci-fi show, but hated it as a "Star Trek" series.
Outside of the ST universe, I feel it had new ideas (aside from infringing on that indie game's tardigrade space travel concept), neat visuals, and an interesting plot. Within the ST universe, it was sacrilege.
Same...
That's definitely new, thanks for sharing. It'll be interesting if new cards come out in the next month or two...I also need an upgrade for my desktop's R9 290.
I'll be wading into the market for a new laptop in the near future, and would like to get something gaming-worthy. My current laptop has an I7-720 with a mobility 5870, so just about ANYTHING is going to be an immeasurable upgrade. If I bought today, it would have a GTX 1070, but this tech is...
Can you elaborate on what you don't find thrilling with LM?
I built an 8700K system a few months ago, with the intent to delid and OC it. I got the Rockit 88 and some Grizzly Conductonaut, but haven't gone through with it yet.
I've noticed a BIG difference, which is stating the obvious considering I come from an I7 920, but still nice to see from a new rig. Hi-def video encoding is a solid 5x faster. With gaming, my fps in DCS (flight sim) have gone up 50%, WoW is breaking 60fps at max settings (about a 30% fps...
To the OP's initial question, I just upgraded to an 8700K from an I7 920 system I built at the end of 2009. I probably won't build another system for another 5 years (or longer), which may put me in the minority around here. However, I could care less what comes out in 6 months. This was my...
Please don't laugh at me, but I'm still running an I7 920 in my primary rig. I also have one running a home server, and I do a decent amount of video encoding with it. Because of my preferred settings, it does go pretty slowly. I'm talking 12 hrs for something like turning a bluray to an mkv...
