From what i've experienced/read 3.7 - 3.9 should be doable without changing any other setting than the multiplier - i had a crash at 3.9 (auto volt) so rolled it back a little and it's been rock solid. I think a few sites have gotten 4.0/4.1 with manual voltage though. Thermals aren't really a...
B450i Aorus Pro Wifi, 3.8Ghz all core (all two of them :p) oc was really simple, set and forget. It could probably go a little higher but i'll wait until i feel liking playing around with voltages a bit to give it a try.
A lot of boards can do it, for gigabyte check the bios note "Improve...
It's a bit of fun to OC as well. I have one as a placeholder in an itx system and i was surprised how happy i was with it for light gaming/web browser/etc.
Is there a Threadripper 'board that can actually do that? All the boards seem to use 12 lanes for m2 and split the rest into 2x16 + 2x8 (or 3x16 for the taichi matx).
I noticed a slight misalignment with my O11D as well (with an asus zenith board). From your picture/description mine is off in the opposite direction - the expansion slot screws are just a little too far away from the bracket on the installed cards. It hasn't been enough to cause problems for me...
i was considering picking up a cheap mining board but ultimately couldn't think of a use case for it.
Used enterprise gear is still way better value for a NAS like you're considering - using a few $20-50 perc/mellanox cards can get the same basic functionality with any old 3/4 pci-e slot intel...
This just happened to my Blackwidow V2 a week or so ago with a cup of black tea. I immediately disassembled it as much as i could (didn't do the metal plate + pcb assembly), dried it as much as i could then left it a few days and it was fine. Maybe you got unlucky but pulling it apart you might...
I had the same error 9 problem with reflect cloning a drive for my brother last week, tried another random disk cloning program (aomei backerupper or something?) and that worked fine. Might be a bug with the current version of reflect.
Note about durability: my little brother bought a pair of the zero's and i've had to repair them a few times due to the mount of the cup's swivel bracket failing. first one ear, then the second, then the first again when my adhoc fix failed :p
It's only a few minute fix to cut a new bushing...
The dolby atmos implementation in overwatch is top notch, doesn't require anything fancy hardware wise though - in fact they recommend you disable any virtual surround sound software/hardware/etc and just let it do it's thing.
I found Kodi on android tv to be superb, so good i retired the old htpc i was using with my previous TV. Tried the built in DLNA functionality on the TV but it had a lot of compatibility issues that Kodi handled without problem.
This happened to a friend of mine who tracked down the reason and it turned out to be related to MS Office installing/updating - despite the fact they neither own or attempted to install office in the first place 乁( ◔ ౪◔)ㄏ
Just wondering has anyone actually tried this? Specifically those without kabylake/200 chipsets. The 1050ti is cheap enough i might consider it if it's confirmed working.
The common standard is 18AWG for the power supply wiring (ATX, EPS, PCI-E, SATA, MOLEX) but some high end units do use 16AWG for at least the ATX/EPS/PCI-E i believe. Fan wires you can drop down to 22AWG, then down to 26AWG for the front panel stuff. Electrical supply places sell this stuff by...
Here's a video i watched recently that might give you some decent info, including benchmarks with the 1060. Shows there are some bottlenecking issues with the G4560/1060 but it's entirely dependant on the game - Gears of War 4 was included.
Ocellaris is referring to actually physically removing the GPU from the computer - remove power cables, unscrew it, disengage the latch on the pci-e slot and take it out of the case
A few of the Asrock boards would meet that criteria as well. Same deal as you mentioned with the ports being disabled with M.2 usage but there are 8/10 SATA port models.
When my last GPU died at an awkward time (few months pre-pascal/polaris) my budget at the time allowed for a 390X or a 970, nothing higher. Picked the 8GB 390X and i've been pretty happy with it since.
If you have a driving game that already supports VR (project cars, euro/american truck sim) boot it up and just look around the car interior. That was a serious trip for me, i also ended up crashing while playing getting distracted by car interior detail.
For just base OS + utility/productivity type programs 250GB is even overkill a little bit. You'll see some benefit in load times from graphically intensive games that load a lot of textures with an SSD, i fill most of my 500GB SSD boot drive and a 500GB SSD storage drive with those. Ultimately...
You're right about the lanes, chipset can come into it as well - for example Z170 (provided the motherboard has all the required slots) can do three from the chipset and and one from a PCH x4 slot before you start dipping into the CPU lanes/slots (although total bandwidth is DMI limited for...
I actually move my multi monitor setup around a fair bit, to accomplish what i do with CRT's i think i'd end up spending more on reinforced hydraulic arms than the monitors themselves. A small forklift for the 40in may come in handy as well i guess.
6 monitors for any recent mid-to-high end AMD card and it inevitably leads to needing to mix dvi->hdmi dongles, passive/active display port adapters and display port hubs. So in addition to the software side you get less cabling headaches and a single slot low power card card by going matrox...
The only thing i've seen a sata-express port used for is to add additional usb 3.1 ports so while it has some use i guess i wouldn't miss it if it was gone.
Looking at the case pictures it seems like there is plenty of space to mount another SSD next to the existing mount - have you considered something like some velcro adhesive tape? a strip or two on the bottom of the drive and the case?
Or if you want to keep it kludge free that bay adapter...
Forgot to mention about the cursor stuff, a few games even have options to restrict the cursor to the game screen or not (starcraft 2 and diablo 3). Another select few will let you keep playing with a gamepad while the keyboard/mouse focus is on another window/application - most recent i can...
Fullscreen windowed/borderless windowed works the best if you want to do that, alt-tab to swap programs generally works like a charm. I generally do that for any single screen game with my multi setup.
I had a similar issue with the same card, seems like it was a relatively common problem with the 280X. RMA'ed it and got a new card, same problem. From memory, further searching and experimentation led me to believe it was something to do with drivers/anti-aliasing methods and changing those...
