I have this same exact problem as described, I tried enabling "Disable display scaling on high DPI systems" but it didn't help. According to FRAPS it's a constant 60fps but the game is stuttering every few seconds. It's very jarring, it doesn't feel like a performance horsepower thing but more...
I'm using a Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H and I installed the Intel USB 3.0 driver from the website of the motherboard. The USB 3.0 ports on the back of the board work fine, it's just the front panel ports that are a problem.
Hmm, I didn't solve my problem after all. Has anyone had trouble with the front USB 3.0 ports? With mine it will either complain that the 3.0 device can operate faster on a different port or it will say the drive needs formatting before it can be used. Then sometimes it just won't show up in...
Oops had a front panel USB 3.0 problem but it turned out to probably be a driver issue. Apparently the front panel is a USB hub and not just some ports. Got it working by using a different header on my mobo.
My only problem with 650D was a slightly bent layer of metal in the front where a rivet didn't go through it's hole. It doesn't interfere with anything and is completely out of sight so I decided it's no big deal. Been very pleased with the case and now that I've upgraded to a modern day...
I discovered that product a couple weeks ago, but the reports of it setting itself on fire in the Amazon reviews scared me off so I just bought another can of air.
What do you guys do to clean the dust filters? Easiest might be to air can them but I was wondering if just washing them in the sink makes sense, would save on compressed air and probably be more thorough.
I'm planning to use MX-2 because it's $3 cheaper than AS5 and in researching it I found that it performs very well and even better than AS5. Grabbing some from Canada Computers for $5.
My retailer of choice is Canada Computers and they're selling the 3570k for $300! Picked it up from NCIX for $239. Best price available in Canada that I'm aware of, could be worse. The retailer pays $212 I think, so I figure $239 isn't all that bad. $190 would have been great!
I'm in Toronto too, hate to pay the shipping but NCIX seems to be the best deal and I put in an order about 2 hours ago. Shipping was not bad at $7.49, I added a CPU cooler to my order that costs $1 more at Canada Computers so I saved an extra buck there as well. Hopefully we get them by the...
I haven't thought about that, I was under the impression that people with extreme temps were applying too much voltage or just trying to push it too hard, seems IB should be kept at 4.6GHz max unless you have some fancy cooling setup. I'm not comfortable messing with voltage and I don't plan to...
I just bit the bullet and ordered a 3570k from NCIX.ca for $238.99 and $7.25 shipping, apparently the best price in Canada. Now I need to settle on a z77 motherboard, was going to go with Gigabyte but I've been reading Overclock.net forums, there are people having some problems with them over there.
They will be cheap at Micro Center, wish this store was available to me in Canada.

I had planned to do that but the Gigabyte UD5H board I'm looking at seems to be having some issues with 2500k CPUs. Maybe I need to wait it out and see if they iron out those problems. It's really discouraging trying to pick a motherboard cause on Newegg about one third of the reviews for every...
I shop at CC, I'd love to know what they're charging for the 3570k. Considering the price on that 3770k, the 3570k would be around $250. At those prices I might change my plans and go with a 2500k for $210 instead.
I'm going with Ivy Bridge. They run hotter but I don't think I'd take it past 4GHz so I'm not overly concerned. I'm upgrading from a Core 2 Duo and the 2500k is still $210-230 around here so unless the 3570k is way overpriced I'm gonna go with that.
That's strange, Gigabyte's P67 boards seem to officially support 1600MHz with Sandy Bridge but their z77 doesn't. Asus P67 supports 1600 too. I need to look into this some more.
What the hell... If I end up deciding to go with a Sandy Bridge 2500k I was still planning to get a Gigabyte UD5H z77 board but I just found out it doesn't support 1600MHz ram without an Ivy Bridge CPU. And then I noticed none of the stores I shop at here in Canada even stock P67 or Z68 boards...
Yeah, I've been reading that AnandTech article on the voltages and overclocking and have come to the same conclusion. Going with the 3570k. I hope being an early adopter of the z77 chipset and ivy bridge processor doesn't come with any major problems though.
I've been thinking long and hard about doing that, but I think if the 3570k comes out next week for around $220ish I'm just gonna go for it along with the other parts I listed above. I've been expecting to pay around that price and I'm running out of patience with all this waiting. If it wasn't...
Well I think my CPU is considered weak by today's gaming standards, an e8400 at 3.6GHz. It's like 5 years old now. I'm sure that it's my system's bottleneck. I JUST bought the GPU so I really don't want to upgrade that.
I've been playing all kinds of different games. Dead Island, Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur, Arkham City, Mass Effect trilogy, Rage, Borderlands, Just Cause 2, Saboteur, and so on. When I built my current system with the Core 2 Duo I had no intention of getting into PC gaming, and when I bought the...
I'm in a real similar pickle to you MeanBruce. I've been waiting for the Ivy Bridge to come out so I can upgrade from my Core 2 Duo. I was looking at the i5 3570k. Now that they're talking about high temps it's got me concerned and wondering if I should go down to the 2500k. I would probably try...
I bought the video card in September so it's not going back. With my Core 2 Duo I've been getting decent performance in games, usually at least 40 and for less demanding games I can often get 60. I believe my old CPU is really bottlenecking my performance so it's time to upgrade. The 2500k...
Hello, I'm hoping for some feedback on my planned upgrade from a Core 2 Duo. I'm reusing some parts so I definitely want to keep those and I'm replacing the CPU, RAM, motherboard, and CPU cooler. My primary reason for upgrading is to improve performance in games. The prices I'm listing are...
Yeah I think the 212 Evo is the same as the 212+ but with the heat pipes on the bottom closer together. I think the dimensions are the same. Thanks guys.
I think I'm going to buy the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo for this case, can anyone tell me if it's a tight fit for the 650D? This is a popular cooler so I suspect a lot of people have installed it in this case. Thanks.
Well I was looking at the H100 which was on sale for $100 and I felt it was really pricey, then the next time I looked the price had jumped up to $120 and I decided against it. The H80 is on sale for $90 and the NH-D14 is on sale for $75.
I found some photos of a NH-D14 fitting into a 650D, it...
