Sorry i didnt specify it in RTM related topic what i ment.. :) i guess peoples in these days gotta be reaaally specific so peoples actually seriously understands the case.. but anyways.. this is rtm topic and keep it in rtm..
there is a official discord channel from where u can all get these...
Never ever mine directly to exchange wallet! Because of peoples like you rest of us cant have nice things.. So.. use your own wallet.. not exchange wallet! Use discord channels for more info..
Sorry not sure what u ment.. i have 3 slave boxes + 1 master box.. slaves goes like hdd - hp sas expander - sff 8088 - xternal to internal card - sff 8087 - LSI sas controller... So.. answer to your question if i got it right, u can use that sff 8088 slot in hp sas controller for connecting it...
i have couple norcos aswel but it is harder to find right sas backplanes for those.. there is atleast one dead hdd slot already in one case and it would be nice to replace.. back in the days i ordered some but those were wrong and didnt fit.. i got those yellow ones and i have green ones...
Not even a long shot.. there is no competition between those 2.. i am 31 years old guy and baby yoda is just so cute <3 <3 <3 :D makes my cold heart melt :D
plus u gotta always remember that chain is strong as its weakest point.. no matter what hdd it is, if psu is bad, going bad or smth happens.. it can insta fry ur hdd.. always get a good psu, keep it clean and get ups unit.. gives so much more time for your parts..
if hdds are getting hot.. check out fans and cases always needs a bit dustin time to time.. dust piles up really fast and kills everything.. ofcourse depenting of your location but still gotta be carefull with the dustie.. :)
well it isnt perfect.. i guess nothing is really perfect.. except maybe own backups + cloud combo... and drivepool itself also needs proper settings so it would work properly for snapraid..
And yes drivepool itself makes one letter yes but there is also a need for snapraid to get data...
data and parity disks are seperate disks.. no need to pool those like u mentioned.. if u are planning to add more disks later.. i would recommend to use windows mounting system so letters wont end in WIN.. less hazzle when u are above letter amounts.. and those data disks u can pool and parity...
in snapraid those are eather data disks or parity disks.. u can add those to settings file :) and with unraid u dont need or even cant use stablebits drivepooling..
for 14 disks.. u can make 1 pool what contains all data disks and no parity disks involved.. so.. just with 14 disks and if 2...
memtest for rams https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm .. and i would also check out in whatkind of condition windows hdd/ssd is.. with hdsentinel or hdtune or some other software... https://www.hdsentinel.com/
https://geeks3d.com/furmark/ is also cool soft for stressing
Also remember to...
Nobody really knows how long parts can last.. they can last a week or 10 years.. :) Personaly i use UPS systems for protecting from lightnings and power outtages..
But you can do alot to make them last longer.. keep them cool.. have a good psu giving those parts good energy.. get ups and give...
it isnt always matter of cpu or how much data it can eat without pooppin.. big issue in that will also be how fast sata ports are.. how fast hdds are.. system is fast as its weakest link.. and ofcourse raid system itself how u are gonna build it.. there are really good options in this thread to...
it deppens of your hardware :) if it is moped hardware, slow controllers aswell and performance is limited per drive speeds.. it will take a long time..
Best software.. it is prolly a matter of taste.. i personaly use snapraid + stablebit drivepool combo... there is other options aswell like...
with a moped model system like yours i would go with something really light if u dont wanna update.. have u ever considered something like unraid? winblows would be heavy and that amount would need more ram... zfs prolly same story with ram atleast..
Are u sure it isnt just bad cable? Did u move those hdds or server itself in some bad way.. back in the days yahoo fcked up their data by moving their hdds/servers in wrong way and lost tons of data because of that..
Personaly i use snapraid + stable bit drivepool config in my current server..
Finally Murica is doing smth about this with their bad connections from 90s.. u cant do much with hard capped slow connections in these days when multimedia is everyday thing and u suck data from net like a true wh0re sucks d.. But in the end these old style isps like poopcast can only blame...
Yes i do.. atm 2 x 860 evos at mobo sata connectors in raid but those are too slow so i gotta change those to sas card and maybe add 1-2 more ssds for 10 gbit network..
Fast servers arent reliable eather what i think... atleast when i do fast test i get more speed in that test than routers speed graphics shows and i think those speed graphs are more reliable than fast test.. i wouldnt trust fast eather..
If you are still running Q6600.. u aint updating your gear so often so that much overkill sounds decent.. make one great overkill system and it serves you for a really long time.. no need to update every 5 years ;) :D
Didnt read every msg in this topic but did any point out that sometimes bios just screws u up and changes boot options from windows hdd to smth else and u gotta change boot source again before u can continue to windows..?
