Can someone measure the distance from the back of the mouse (where the palm rests) to the end of the forward button for each mouse?
I have long fingers and a lot of mice have the forward and back buttons too far back for me. I use a combination palm/claw grip.
Thanks
The Audioengine A2s are a great small form factor speakers. They have received extremely positive reviews. Look it up.
You have to understand the limitations of a 2.75" driver. You're not going to get chest thumping bass at reference levels. I would not hesitate to buy the Audioengines...
OP isn't going to use a sub, so it works out well. Audioengine has a 30 day in home trial. Get them, and if they aren't what you're looking for, return them. It's that easy.
Sorry, thought you meant $250 per speaker.
Never listened to these, but I've read good things about them...

I'd try to find a pair of Tweak City Audio WAF-1.
First off, I'd suggest you buy used from audiogon. You can get much more speaker for the price.
With that said, you have a lot of options for the price range. If you have room next to your desk, you can get a set of floor standing speakers. If you listen to music the most, then focus on...
All of the speakers you've mentioned are well regarded. The best thing you can do is to listen to each if possible, and make a decision based on what sounds good.....to you.
I've heard all except the BX5. I enjoyed the A5. Does not mean you'll have the same outcome.
The Sonic T amp will...
HFL, that's one nice setup. I should know, I had a Virtue Two paired with the JB3s. One of the better desktop systems I've heard. I kept the JB3s.
It really helps to get the driver at ear level. I went the DIY route. I was fortunate enough to find a nice old butcher block that I was...
I've heard the Swans. The tweeter is a little bright compared to the A5s. If you like a bright tweeter, then you'll like the Swans. They also lack a little in bass, but are a nice set of speakers.
I've been reading some good things about the Audinst HUD-MX. You'll have enough good DACs to chose from. Any of them will work well. I wouldn't spend anymore than $200.
Just make sure it's a reputable company that you can return the DAC or get it repaired.
@EndersShadow.
Don't hate me, but for that price, you have a lot of choices for great DACs.
The Maverick Audio DAC is popular.

On Audiogon, there's a HRT Music Steamer + for sale. You'll save a lot...
I've listened to a AudioEngine A5 paired with a HRT Streamer II and I was really surprised how good it sounded. Made me think twice about my setup that I spent much more on.
Don't get caught up in the numbers game. Not sure how one speaker has more "power" over the other. The frequency response is close enough to not really make a difference.
One goes a little lower than the other and one has a "better" tweeter. What you should do is try to listen to each and...
I've used RCA and XLR with good results. I wouldn't make my decision based on what connections it uses, but rather price and performance of the DAC. RCA cables are much easier and usually cheaper to come by. I wouldn't go the TRS route.
I'd get the Musiland over the Firewire.
I also recommend audiogon. You're buying from audiophiles on that site, it's not ebay. They baby their equipment.
Also, if you buy from newegg, make sure they are an authorized dealer for the product you're buying. If not, you get no warranty and usually no returns on the item.
If you go with the AudioEngine A5s, you can control the volume from the speaker. Then I'd get a HRT Music Streamer II, especially due to it's asynchronous USB mode.. This is a really nice setup.
I haven't heard either of the DACs you've mentioned.
Bass traps and acoustic panels.
This company has reasonable prices and uses mineral wool. You can go the whole Corning 703/705 route if you want to go DIY.

Stay away from foam traps. They are a waste of time and money.
Maggies are great. Go listen to them at a dealer near you. Match them with a nice sub and you'll never look back. I've heard the 1.6Rs and if you live anywhere near the Los Angeles area, this is a great deal...
Here's a good example on Audiogon. It's almost the same price as the B&W 685s, but an obvious upgrade.
B&W CM4

If you buy your gear used from a place like Audiogon, you'll save yourself a lot of money, and get the quality you're looking for.

It's a little more expensive, but the HRT Music Streamer II has a lot of good reviews.

I've never heard them, but the JohnBlue JB3 get great reviews.
I've been interested in these for some time now.
