Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master, bad luck or bad run?

Wish I had known this earlier as I went through 2 boards and the ASUS doesn't overclock at all. Won't boot if I touch any slider or even set the RAM to 3600 with very high timings like 18. It pisses me off cause the gigabyte worked so well when it actually worked. I wasted thousands on this...

NVIDIA Unveils RTX Voice, AI-based Audio Noise-Cancellation Software

Tested this out, it works surprisingly well. I have blue switches on my keyboard and they disappear when using the mic now. Only thing is it literally crashed one of my games and I was confused until turning it off and boom game worked again. The rtx portion of my GPU is finicky. Also trying out...

Minecraft RTX beta dropped today at 1PM Eastern

I've been using shader based Ray tracing to test out my hardware. It looks pretty cool, but only works on the Java version. I do have the windows one too. Might as well test out the system later tomorrow. I can even do comparisons between versions. If only I had enough VRAM to run the full 4k...

Question for the veterans of PC gaming: why was the Radeon 9700 Pro such a big deal?

My first custom gaming PC used the Radeon 9700 Pro. It's synonymous with my childhood love of computers. I owned something high tech that just performed amazingly. UT was smooth as butter. Word of mouth spread so fast for that card and it kick-started my career. It was paired with an AMD 2700+...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

Seems to be a decent review so far (if you are okay with youtube ones) She even covers the BGR thing and text and it seems really good.

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

There is a single amazon review before they ran out of stock. Amazon is mixing the old HDR600 and HDR1000 models together. It because Amazon while a tech company has the worst store interface.

    Did someone steal/hack HardFolding.com?

I was just looking into what happened here and was going to offer up hosting. If anyones interested and has agood name suggestion I can buy the domain and hold it (at least until I die, let's hope I live a long life) It can just point to the forum page or perhaps Be a quick intro and links to...

    FAH has COVID-19 projects

Do these run on the GPU as well. I just reinstalled and it's running again but only suing the CPU right now for some reason. Edit: nevermind there are the fans and pump ramping up, hold onto your horses daaaang!

Security Implications of AMD’s Cache Way Predictors - funding by Intel

Everyone in this thread, chill lol. The paper is purely academic and clearly isn't meant to incite panic. Researchers research things. While the tone of the paper is slightly biased it makes note several times that AMD is actually the more secure product in the fact they could not use a number...

Security Implications of AMD’s Cache Way Predictors - funding by Intel

Holy shit someone on the internet actually quoted me lol. Yeah this "exploit" is really overblown. Within hours of spectre/meltdown there were local userspace apps stealing keys right out of memory. This is no more than a metadata attack which can be used with conjoined attacks of course and...

DOOOM - "We're not prepared for the end of Moore's Law"

You may want to add the /s as someone might take this seriously. Once you hit Pico that's it. Atoms don't get smaller after that and hydrogen while tiny isn't exactly usable lol.

    DOOM Eternal: The Final Preview

I broke my preorder rule for this one and got the collectors edition of Mick Gordon's new album. It comes in FLAC and even has steam codes for these free games included. There's also a helmet to protect your head while headbanging. I regret nothing. Doom 2016 was/is a perfect game. I'm going...

Asus ROG Swift PG43UQ with 43.4″ VA Panel, 4K Resolution and 144Hz Using DSC

Asus ROG Swift PG43UQ with 43.4″ VA Panel, 4K Resolution and 144Hz Using DSC

What are you smoking? You can literally tell windows it is a BGR display and it renders text accordingly even with correct subpixel hinting. DSC gives you hihg refresh rate at high resolution WITH higher color depth. And this has HDR1000 versus lower specs from previous panels. I'm pretty sure...

Asus ROG Swift PG43UQ with 43.4″ VA Panel, 4K Resolution and 144Hz Using DSC

This is finally selling, no reviews yet so holding off on purchase. The BGR thing can be fixed in Windows in the registry thankfully. Panel quality is another thing. It checks every box I need just waiting on reviews.

Intel to lay off Bay Area employees

Actually I make more than 4 times my old salary when I was working in Miami FL just 15 months ago. Pay here is amazing. I'm doing roughly the same type of work just at a much larger scale. I'm in tech though so I'm sure the scale is different for other industries.

Intel to lay off Bay Area employees

We're not talking about the norm. This is about the bay area. I work there and that's exactly how it goes. Our employers actually care about us as humans, pay us well, and in return we do jobs that generate insane growth. This isn't some regular office desk job but engineering work.
  23. JosiahBradley

Intel to lay off Bay Area employees

Actually that's literally my job. We get paid a bunch because we can do that exact thing. You're not being paid for your time, you're being paid to complete x amount of work and make sure the company generates revenue. If I can create that much leverage in 3 hours versus 8 I'm doing well. And if...

Intel to lay off Bay Area employees

I mean why keep paying employees if you're not producing anything new? It's like Intel's bread and butter is just repeat products. How many phones have an Intel modem? They've been selling the same server NICs for years. On desktop they've literally spun the same silicon for what half a decade...

Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master, bad luck or bad run?

Ah! I did not know this. I don't think I've ever run an Asus board honestly, so not familiar with the product segmentation here. Started with DFI, Abit, MSI, and Gigabyte over the years. Well lets hope those extra 20A power stages on the SoC make the crosshair worth it lol. I do need to pump...

Tested: Nvidia’s Variable Rate Supersampling Doesn’t Deliver on its Promises

I take it back then. I mainly looked at the graphs as I was more interested in performance and figured Tom's after the whole RTX debacle would be all over this properly. Thanks for letting me know.

This is one of the better reskins I've seen. It keeps the aesthetic of the original with modern flair. Top icons are a bit tiny on mobile (note 9) but everything else looks polished.

I worked at the state level in IT for nearly a decade. I have no certs. Now I work in the private sector in silicon valley, still no certs. Both have been new in box. Using Amazon returns. It's just so odd it's the exact same issue for both even with completely different hardware otherwise.

Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master, bad luck or bad run?

Loop drained. Mobo on cardboard. Only plugged in 24pin 8pin CPU and one stick of RAM. Still no lights or power. Tried with both 8 pins, no 8pins, just 24pin. No ram, etc. Removed CMOS battery, reinstalled CMOS battery. Tried different PSU cables even. Tried second PSU. No combination works...

Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master, bad luck or bad run?

I will be, after I tear down everything. Drain the loop etc. Sadly I messed up on the loop design as my top rad doesn't have a fill port so it's nearly impossible to drain.

Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master, bad luck or bad run?

Well fuck. I'm going to just use my switch. All these years of building PCs has eaten away my soul. This was my greatest build ever and I can't do something as simple as get a working motherboard.

Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master, bad luck or bad run?

Like I've said I tried 2 different PSUs, 2 different CPUs and this was tested on an anti static bag before use. If it's a case short that's pretty impressive as there really hasn't been time to get any dust or metal behind the Mobo. I gotta rip out everything anyhow to test so maybe it'll work...

Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master, bad luck or bad run?

I'm about to be on my third Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master. The first one died in 45 seconds. The second lasted long enough to test my 3950x. Now it just won't power on. It's not the PSU as I've tried 2 different Seasonics one being brand new. I've tried a 3800x and 3950x in this board. First the...

    Ryzen 3950X, 3960X, 3970X Availability

My first gaming PC had 3 12v 120mm 38mm that required like 2amps to start. I had to manually crank them and attach the molex connectors manually as they came with bare wire. They were loud! No way to slow them down. I've got a pwm version now but afraid to use it lol. Cut my fingers a good...
