I'm thinking of getting one for my wife, who just went back to school. The current lineup has been around for at least 5 months now. I thought it would get re-freshed after Mac World... a least bump up the CPU speed or something... but that doesn't appear to be the case. Maybe it hasn't been...
Perfect mcravenufo, thank you very much. Not so much pr0n, but I don't want any personal/financial info on them for someone else to find. DBAN sounds like just the ticket!
Cheers both,
Johnny
Hello,
I have a few old computers that are about to get donated to charity. Before I let them go I'd like to clean/format them so there is no way to recover any of the data currently on the drives. What program should I use to "clean" them or what should I do to prepare them to go out & serve...
I have a PC sitting in my garage collecting dust. It's got a Duron 900MHz CPU in an Epox 8RDA3+ mobo, 40GB HDD, Crucial 256MB DDR... I forget some of the specs. I'd be willing to sell the whole thing pretty cheap.
Send me an email, I'm sure we can work something out.
Picked one up at Fry's in Wilsonville, Or. Seemed like a good deal for $0.24/GB. I didn't see it at outpost.com
Cheers

Get something that sits on your head and not your ears (circumaural like mustang_steve suggested). Audio Technica or Sennheiser and come to mind. The canal-phone suggestions are nice, but I didn't like the E2C's one bit.
I found the grass option in video settings to be rough on my 9800pro on Dantooine (and I have 1 GB of system memory). Something like "show real grass". Turn that off for that planet and it should help your framerate.
cheers
I can say with a pretty high degree of certainty that I will not play the Matrix Online.
2 reasons:
I adamantly oppose monthly subscription games
the other Matrix games were very bad
More ::spoilers::If you ask them to fight they'll offer to spar. Pick any one of them. You fight 1 at first, then 2 and then 5. 2 is easy, but 5 you better be prepared.
::/spoiler::
Yea, most parts were too easy. One part that I found really hard was ::spoiler:: fighting the 5 of Atrius' handmaidens. I could pretty easily handle 2, but 5 was too much. Any tips? ::/spoiler::
Microsoft has a lot of money.
I'm playing the game through right now. It's a good sequel, but there are so many things I didn't like about the first one that didn't get fixed in the second (3 classes?! let me pick my OWN attributes & feats). Obsidian did a decent job, but Black Isle did...
I've had my 3520 for all of a day and a half now, but the the community is behind this drive bigtime. There are so many people with this drive for a reason... it's a darn fine drive. I burned 2 DVD's today with Fuji 8x DVD+R media at 16x thanks to the people who test this stuff tirelessly at...
It sounds like you didn't really learn to fight. You can throw hooks, upper-cuts, jabs and the ever-cool reversal. Basically you grab someone with a gun & turn it on them. Learn to do this well and you become uber-badass. Shoot out the lights & break some necks... fun stuff! Very cool IMO...
Hey folks got some good games up FS. All come in perfect condition with box & manual.
Doom 3. Can't say much about this one that hasn't already been said. $20
Chronicles of Riddick. This game was my favorite game of 2004. Amazing FPS $20
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. A...
Ouch, that kinda hurt. I'm not replacing my trusted JUIHB 1.7 @ 2Ghz until I absolutely have to :) It took so long to install last night I didn't get very far... just to the scientist. But, i have today to play so it's all good.
Hopefully Steam will go the way of the dodo (if there's any...
OMG WTF? As if 5 CD's wasn't enough there's this decrypting that's gotta happen for an ice-age and now it's another 15 minutes for "Decrypting Steam files - 80% complete".
And here I thought installing Morrowind sucked. This is a new level of suckiness.it's been 42 minutes now just to...
It's nice to see you enjoy quality music. In the end that's what it's all about :) At the risk of sounding condecending I urge you to find a locally owned hi-fi shop. You are in for a world of enjoyment. I remember my first time and it was amazing. True Hi-Fi equipment produces sound &...
I'd do something like this...
* M-Audio Sonica
* Used HT receiver
* Cheap $20 KLH speakers
The sonica will run you about $35-45. You should be able to find a Kenwood or similar 1-2 year old receiver for about $100. I found some very decent KLH 3 way bookshelf speakers for $20 at BB...
You should go out on a limb and check out the Audio Technica A500's (can be found at audiocubes.com ~$100). I have the A900's and simply love them. They are at about the same level as the Senn HD580/600 & Grado SR225's. They have excellent soundstage (great for gaming), don't need an amp...
Technical results said the failure code : 0x70 - Defective Device. Technical result Code: 7000b5c2. 5 months out of warranty. :rolleyes:
Time to go the the Hot Deals section and find a new drive.
I was redirected from the IBM site to Hitichi who now owns (and supports) the ex-IBM drives. They have a "Hard drive fitness utility" which you burn to CD and boot from & run. It found bad sectors on the drive and is attempting to "repair" the them. We'll see if those bad sectors are in the...
2 words....
IBM Deskstar!
It's been running for a couple of years now basically 24/7 though so I guess I should count my blessings. I'll go find some HDD software and post back my results.
Thanks so much guys :)
