What are you nerds playing this weekend?

You play on performance or graphics mode? I set it aside because I didn't like the smeary anti-aliasing\upscaling in the performance mode, and hated the 30fps mode. 30fps doesn't bother me in a lot of games but man I have a lot of games to play right now. I'll go back to it eventually.

Anyone seriously considering the 4070 TI

GPU Performance logging software can only see how much GPU memory is being allocated. It doesn't mean it is being used in the current scene or being used at all. Game engines have become pretty good at moving data around thanks to previous console generations being so limited in video memory...

Anyone seriously considering the 4070 TI

I have the 4070ti and it was worth it. I could have got an AMD card for a little less, with a little more power, but the benefits of DLSS over FSR made it worth it to me. In many titles either card would need to use upscaling to reach my 4k60fps at ultra. Now, if you include what DLSS is going...

    4080 for 4k gaming at 120hertz? Ok?

My feedback to this issue is that I have a 4070ti and I do 4k60fps. I would think the 4080 is going to be a stretch at 120fps.

    Starfield

Hah, I totally expected this comment and I meant to include a disclaimer in my post. Exactly what I am doing. I just built this PC for the purpose of playing Starfield on my 75 inch 4k TV. Some games are infinitely better on Keyboard and Mouse. RTS and Competitive Shooters for example.

    Starfield

Any controller players here? No aim-assist? Wow, you have to be precise with those sticks. What's the point of flying the ship if you can't go anywhere? I get the realism aspect of flying from one planet to another, they really should have had you fast travel to the planet's orbit and then you...

The U.S. Supreme Court Debates Taking Apple App Store Antitrust Case

All console games are licensed and sold at a fixed price. That is much more anti consumer than what Apple is doing, where the developer sets the price. Unofficial apps are cool, but they don't make much money or have much market share on Android.

Bing Flags VLC's Official Site as Dangerous

So they flag VLC's site because some of the software they provided had a security hole. Does that mean Microsoft is flagged in Bing as well? There have been a few exploits with their software I'm pretty sure.

The U.S. Supreme Court Debates Taking Apple App Store Antitrust Case

There are no lawyers in existence that can win this one. If they did it would dismantle the business models of Apple, Google, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony. Next they will tell Netflix they aren't allowed to have exclusives. Just think, in the 90s we were worried about Microsoft bundling it's...

GoFundMe Homeless Vet Scammers Get Visit from Johnny Law

Credit Card Chips Fail to Halt Fraud, Survey Says

Bethesda Using Upgraded Version of Creation Engine for The Elder Scrolls VI, Starfield

You seem to think I was disagreeing with the fact that the engine needs improvements. I am not, I fully agree. Didn't Unreal Engine have a full rewrite at some point? Maybe I'm hallucinating. Unreal Engine was developed as an engine from the ground up with no specific game in mind, but did have...

Xbox Chief Admits Microsoft Has "A Ton of Work to Do on Windows" for PC Gamers

Windows store can just go away now. Nobody is making money on it. It's purpose was to have compatibility between Win64 and MS's Arm devices. That need is now gone. They can do something more like Steam, and give discounts for publishing / licensing fees if it's published on both systems.

Bethesda Using Upgraded Version of Creation Engine for The Elder Scrolls VI, Starfield

Is this news? Did you guys think something different? They've been using this engine since Morrowind. If you think about it, its really impressive that what was built in 2002 has scaled all the way to Fallout 4. It's age is showing though and there are better methods to do a lot of the things...

Amazon is Cracking Down on Top Reviewers

Amazon doesn't want to fix this stuff. I tried buying a WiiU so I could play Breath of the Wild and ended up buying from a fake seller. Motherboard Makers Are Moving Manufacturing Out of China

I'd rather have Uncle Sam spying on me than a communist dictator who only keeps us alive because of our economy. I'm sure I have an unpopular opinion but that's the way I see it. RPG Game Suggestion For Girlfriend

Honestly, your best bet is Zelda or Skyrim. Not saying Skyrim isn't complex, but I don't think you should throw something easy at someone just because they are a beginner or female. Both games are kind to low skill and grow with the user in complexity.

Linus Tech Tips: "Linux Gaming Finally Doesn't Suck"

I can't agree. I don't know how Microsoft has held back PC Gaming when it created Direct X. Their worse offense is that it supported more features than Open GL. Back in the day it was buggy, but I can't remember a bug attributed directly to Direct X since before Windows XP. They created...

How do you feel about Nvidia pricing on the new RTX video cards?

I would certainly hope so, but maybe hoping Intel's graphics would even equate what AMD puts out is unrealistic. AMD has failed to compete and now Intel is using AMD's guy. Maybe he can do something different with that access to that big ol pile of money. Fingers crossed.
