Forza Motorsport(8) thread

I'm honestly not a huge fan of the recent layout changes to the track. The constant 90-degree turns didn't make it the greatest, but I feel getting rid of the chicanes at the north and south ends of the circuit killed off some of its unique character. I especially liked the tight hairpin leading onto the long straightaway.
ill have to check it out. :(

The hairpin is still there, so it could be an alternate layout option, but the south end was completely rebuilt.

Big Patch today gents. How you guys feeling about it? I'm seeing lots of posts on Reddit about regression... Replays still not working, performance still in the dumps, excessive tire wear...

Loading times for me doubled after the patch. And this is after the shaders were recompiled on first load.

Yah same here. Only tried career mode post patch though. Perf for me is where it was before the patch too.

Do the changes to wait time between multiplayer races make things better?

Yas Marina is fucked up. They didn't bother taking new scan data and just completely butchered the track in trying to update the layout. The new south curve is completely wrong. I can't believe they did this after doing an excellent job with the other tracks.

Performance is basically the same, yes.

I have not yet touched multiplayer, and I don't plan to until the penalty system improves. The penalty system is worse than it was before going by my experience in the career post-update.

It's very lenient in my opinion. At the end of some races where there's been nothing but absolute carnage, I expect the board to be littered with red penalties... But at most it's like 2-3 people with like half a second.

I race a little dirtier with the AI, risking contact much more, and never get flagged. I got flagged once for getting rammed off course and it gave me... 4 seconds...

Game is growing on me. Finally it is saving progress as it should have. Finished the weekly and also finished the modern tour. They put the good stuff in weekly and stupid Miata with 20 laps on the core career mode. Pisses me off to no end. However, new patches are making the game a bit better in terms of general stability etc.

Still maybe an 8/10 from me.

oh good, more stuff to do. i finished the career section minus the "featured" tours on the weekend. I was hoping something else would be added before my free pass expires...

This wasn't as hard as I was expecting. Only ran into one jackass, and my escapades with the AI helped me learn how to avoid penalties in spite of his best efforts.

they need an "I'm gonna ram 'em!" achievement for me :)
i only play single player, and ive run out of things to do, waiting on some timed series to open up.

I have completed all of the races except the Open class races. Game pass is expiring in a week or two. Im having trouble deciding if this game is worth buying and playing further not because that ive almost completed it, but because they really made the replicability after you complete the races pretty miserable. Also, What comes after this? Is T10 going to keep drip feeding new tracks and races for the sole purpose to make the game try to stay relevant for longer?

finish em up. idk if id buy it, i can get most of the year of xbox pass for its cost, so ill prob just stick to that.
i guess we could build other cars and replay them but it gets kinda boring without new tracks.
probably...

usually i just spend money buying and building cars, but buying cars and then doing a free race on le Sarthe on the old musanne straight for 50 laps with all the assists on so you can go do something meaningful is pretty meh.

You mean people have friends? I thought all people on forums were friendless.

Anyways, I think I am getting sick and tired of trying to muster up credits just to buy the next car. This is too painful for me. Same reason I dropped Crew Motorfest.

The Open series in the Builders Cup changes every month, by the way. The events themselves and the theme of the cars the AI use is changed every month, along with the reward car for completing the series. They're doing the FOMO thing from Horizon with the series that change every month. If you didn't get the reward cars for the first two months (2020 Audi R8 V10 Performance and 2015 Ferrari 488 GTB), you'll never be able to get them unless Turn 10 decides to make them available otherwise. Same deal with the monthly Featured series. This month's open series rewards you the 2015 McLaren 650S.

Something meaningful? I've got 90 hours into the game now an I have yet to upgrade any of my cars. That includes playing multiplayer. I did buy the semi-racing transmission for the McLaren F1, though, because Turn 10 yet again forgot to take the reduction gear into account when calculating the final drive ratio.

You didnt upgrade any of the cars at all in career races? The something meaningful was meaning doing something other then grinding 50 levels for car credits. But tbh as it sits i have a little over 2 mil credits and have only bought a few cars that werent for the racing series i needed to run. When it comes to buying more cars the money can run out quick and then id have to grind races for credits and car points. Which to me seems really not worth it.

Nope. Instead, I adjust the difficulty to the car I'm driving.

Daytona is being added in update 4 next week. Makes sense since the Rolex 24 is at the end of the month. Still no interesting cars being added. The FOMO cars for the monthly series in career are the 2010 Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SV and 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA Stradale.

coming in February

Update 5.0 aims to make the gaming experience much smoother on every platform, especially on PC...the development team at Turn 10 has reduced CPU spikes and improved GPU utilization while also solving various crash instances due to multithreading...plus PC quality of life improvements...

Update 5 is released with the Nordschleife and 24H circuit layouts for Nürburgring. Skip Practice is now in the pre-race menu as a QoL feature. More bug fixes abound. The FOMO cars this month are the 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS and 1974 Porsche #1 911 RSR. The latter is from the open series and must be claimed before the next update goes live. The former is from the featured career series, which gives you an additional week to claim.

Hopefully we get Sebring back next month for the 12H of Sebring.

did they give us more races though?

I drove around Nordschleife a bit. It looks like the track model did get some improvements, but they're still using the incorrect kerbing that has been used since FM5 and I don't know why. The inaccuracies in actually driving the track are so minor now that they don't really bother me anymore. It's still not close to 100% accurate like GT7 or any other modern sim that has been released since 2014, though.

With Daytona they still can't seem to get the bus stop right, but overall the infield and the oval seem a lot more accurate than FM7.

most people are never even gonna know the differences...
i just want more than 4/5 races a week.

its all the same models copy pasted from the old games that dates back to the original three.
