If you're going AMD, Sapphire usually makes the best AIB versions. Also I've heard their customer service is on the better end if that's important to you.
If it's performance per watt that you're after and you need to do about 120 FPS at 4K for around $600... then yes the 4070 Super is hard to beat.
The only other alternative is probably the 7900 GRE which will soon be out for sale for $549.
It still uses more power than the 4070 Super so if...
Oh it's dead all right. I think he might be talking about the multi-chiplet design for GPUs that is rumored to come out with RDNA5. But that's two generations from now. RDNA4 from all reports will stick with a single monolithic GPU design.
This new chiplet design has already been copyrighted...
I would just buy it from a store with an easy return policy. I buy stuff from Best Buy and Amazon with zeo return issues.
You can't really tell this stuff, like noise, until you plug it into your system and it can vary from card to card even from the same manufactuer.
850W gold rated power...
It is what it is. Doesnt beat the 7900 XT and just slightly beats the 7800XT. If you shop specifically for the just over 500, just under 600 price range then this card might make sense, otherwise it's meh.
If you do buy a 7900 GRE, the Nitro+ version is obviously the one to buy though as it...
I just watched Gamer's Nexus review. And a pricetag of $549 makes a huge difference. $649 would have been dumb. So the 7900 GRE slots in between the 7800 XT and the 7900 XT in price and performance.
I just don't know how many people are looking to spend $550 for a middle of the road video...
You are right. They are both greedy. When the 4080 was announced for $1200 and the 7900XTX for $999 then the numbers made sense. When the 4080S was announced for $999, AMD refused to cut the prices on its 7900XTX which shows that it is just as greedy as Nvidia.
If they had cut their price...
7900 GRE for $650 is a joke. You can pick up the 7900XT forr $699 in some cases. And the 6800XT for $530 is a far better value.
Again AMD fails to deliver a part that will capture the market because of weird pricing schemes.
Anything that lowers the chance of your GPU burning up is a step forward. It's kinda sad how bad the original 12v plugs were. Hopefully these new power connectors ship free with the 50xx series card. Or maybe there's even a step up from this by then.
I can quote at least one person from this forum who said +200%.
This person probably heard an inaccurate rumor that didn't specify that only the raytracing performance would be doubled. So it's very important to specify particulars when talking about the new card.
So in reality according to...
I heard some interesting stats yesterday of a user survey about the market share of GPUs at Hardware Unboxed.
The median price of GPUs owned by survey respondents was $600. That means about half of the surveyed people bought cards that cost less than $600 and the other half bought video cards...
So I just watched an interesting video that seems to clarify a few potential performance parameters for the upcoming 5090.
In a nutshell: raster gains 60%, overall compute power 2x increase (probably mostly used for AI), greatly increased ray tracing gains at 2.2x, new DLSS that will increase...
Actually looking at thosse photos they are listed at $319, $348, and $250 over MSRP.
So yes a buyer would be foolish to buy one of those but it doesn't change the fact that the scalpers HOOVERED up all the 4080 Super FEs that launched on Best Buy's website in the blink of an eye using their...
I feel for you. The pricing situation sounds crazy in Canada.
Although Nvidia makes the best card for what sounds your case usage the prices are just too high.
Maybe what you can do is look for the 7900XT new for under $1000. With the 20GB frame buffer it won't run out of memory for 4K.
And...
