If you're going AMD, Sapphire usually makes the best AIB versions. Also I've heard their customer service is on the better end if that's important to you.
If it's performance per watt that you're after and you need to do about 120 FPS at 4K for around $600... then yes the 4070 Super is hard to beat.
The only other alternative is probably the 7900 GRE which will soon be out for sale for $549.
It still uses more power than the 4070 Super so if...
Oh it's dead all right. I think he might be talking about the multi-chiplet design for GPUs that is rumored to come out with RDNA5. But that's two generations from now. RDNA4 from all reports will stick with a single monolithic GPU design.
This new chiplet design has already been copyrighted...
I would just buy it from a store with an easy return policy. I buy stuff from Best Buy and Amazon with zeo return issues.
You can't really tell this stuff, like noise, until you plug it into your system and it can vary from card to card even from the same manufactuer.
850W gold rated power...
It is what it is. Doesnt beat the 7900 XT and just slightly beats the 7800XT. If you shop specifically for the just over 500, just under 600 price range then this card might make sense, otherwise it's meh.
If you do buy a 7900 GRE, the Nitro+ version is obviously the one to buy though as it...
I just watched Gamer's Nexus review. And a pricetag of $549 makes a huge difference. $649 would have been dumb. So the 7900 GRE slots in between the 7800 XT and the 7900 XT in price and performance.
I just don't know how many people are looking to spend $550 for a middle of the road video...
You are right. They are both greedy. When the 4080 was announced for $1200 and the 7900XTX for $999 then the numbers made sense. When the 4080S was announced for $999, AMD refused to cut the prices on its 7900XTX which shows that it is just as greedy as Nvidia.
If they had cut their price...
7900 GRE for $650 is a joke. You can pick up the 7900XT forr $699 in some cases. And the 6800XT for $530 is a far better value.
Again AMD fails to deliver a part that will capture the market because of weird pricing schemes.
Anything that lowers the chance of your GPU burning up is a step forward. It's kinda sad how bad the original 12v plugs were. Hopefully these new power connectors ship free with the 50xx series card. Or maybe there's even a step up from this by then.
I can quote at least one person from this forum who said +200%.
This person probably heard an inaccurate rumor that didn't specify that only the raytracing performance would be doubled. So it's very important to specify particulars when talking about the new card.
So in reality according to...
I heard some interesting stats yesterday of a user survey about the market share of GPUs at Hardware Unboxed.
The median price of GPUs owned by survey respondents was $600. That means about half of the surveyed people bought cards that cost less than $600 and the other half bought video cards...
So I just watched an interesting video that seems to clarify a few potential performance parameters for the upcoming 5090.
In a nutshell: raster gains 60%, overall compute power 2x increase (probably mostly used for AI), greatly increased ray tracing gains at 2.2x, new DLSS that will increase...
Actually looking at thosse photos they are listed at $319, $348, and $250 over MSRP.
So yes a buyer would be foolish to buy one of those but it doesn't change the fact that the scalpers HOOVERED up all the 4080 Super FEs that launched on Best Buy's website in the blink of an eye using their...
I feel for you. The pricing situation sounds crazy in Canada.
Although Nvidia makes the best card for what sounds your case usage the prices are just too high.
Maybe what you can do is look for the 7900XT new for under $1000. With the 20GB frame buffer it won't run out of memory for 4K.
And...
The key word is some. I'm doubtful the market is going to be large for a 1 thousand dollar video card that isn't the performance king. If anything the people who went all in on the 4090 is probably a larger amount.
I just checked the steam hardware surveys and I was right. Check it out:
In...
Watch this video carefully: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMIyGuSOA_0&t=932s
Take notes. Watch again if needed. Apply the same steps to overclocking your 4090. Done!
Your listed components are already overkill so all you need to do is learn the techniques from the video and follow them.
I will never defend Nvidia's decision to sell the 4080 at the initial price of $1,200. That was just inexcusable greed to bump up the price of the 3080 by over 70%.
But apparently the marketing or pricing team was operating under the impression that people would pay "mining craze" amounts of...
So the thing about the 4070 Ti Super is that it's just an upgraded 4070 Ti. I believe it beats the old 4070 Ti by about 8%. That means even with the boosted memory its performance is more suitable for 1440P than 4k.
Just forget about it ever matching or beating any flavor of 4080.
However...
Wow at least you got an order confirmed. I've never even been able to see the 4080 Super as an option on Amazon and believe me I've looked a few times.
Yup. Here's hoping that the 5080 sells for $799. I would consider at $999 with today's inflation but I'm still flat out passing and waiting for the 6000 series if Nvidia sells it for $1200!
The main problem with finding an FE on Best Buy is that the botters snap up the Founders Edition and throw them on Ebay for marked up prices.
I was refreshing the Bestbuy page all this morning and it went instantly from coming soon to sold out.
It's an unfortunate world we live in but you...
PS If you can't find a 4080 Super in the usual place, try looking for them at a nearby Micro Center. I still see they have stock at the one near me. So chances are you might still be able to order one for in store pickup.
Microcenter search link...
Yup it's pretty sad. Glad I had the phone app ready in case of any glitches or else I wouldn't have gotten a card.
And look I have criticized the 4080 Super for only giving a barely existent 2% uplift over the normal 4080 but I looked really hard at the 7900 XTX and the lowest price they had...
Yup even though I "settled" for the MSI AIB model, I'm really glad that Best Buy has scheduled my delivery for February 2nd so at least I'll enjoy my video card very soon.
I experienced similar issues to you. I had to use the Best Buy app on my phone to finish processing my 4080 Super order...
Congrats on getting a Founder's Edition.
I just got informed that Nvidia website is now out of stock on FE. So I'm glad that I put in the MSI order and at least secured a video card.
RIP the dream of an FE. But I can live with getting similar performance.
At least the MSI has a fairly...
Yup I got the MSI 4080 Super from Best Buy. I tried to put the ASUS TUF model in cart on Newegg but couldn't complete the checkout process because I got the "out of stock" message.
Check the 4080 Super New owner thread if you want to share your buying experience this morning.
So the 4080 Super went on sale today. I tried to buy the founders edition from Best Buy but it was instantly sold out.
So I settled for the MSI 4080 Super from Best Buy instead and got a confirmed receipt for purchase.
I hopped on Newegg to see if I could snag the ASUS TUF 4080 Super model...
Well 4080 Super benchmarks are now out. This comes from a reviewer who purchased the card 'independently' so doesn't have to obey the embargo.
And yup the 4080 Super BARELY beats out the regular 4080. It looks like it wins by 1-2% only.
article...
One thing you should be aware of is that the 4080 is a VERY long card. 310mm length for the 4080 FE.
You might need to buy a new case to fit it.
I just measured the clearance in my own case and it can only fit a video card with a max length of 292mm.
I would suggest you measure inside your...
You can always wait until the 4080 Super drops if that's what you're betting will happen but personally if I owned one I wouldn't sell my 4080 to buy a 4080 Super.
16GB is enough VRAM for 4k, assuming that's your resolution. For 1440P I wouldn't worry about 16GB at all.
Now if the 4080 only...
Thanks for the feedback guys. Hmm, looks like I will have to pass on Ali Express for GPUs. Feels super risky gambling $500 or more and getting a knockoff instead. The value is tempting but chance of rip off feels too high!
I'm just wondering because I see video cards selling for significantly less on AliExpress.
But the caveat is that these video cards are sold from China which increases delivery time to 2 weeks+ and let's be honest you're half wondering if the video card is some kind of knock off imitation.
And...
The problem is that the 4080 Super is only going to be about 2-5% faster than the 4080. So nobody is going to sell their 4080 to upgrade to the Super.
Also the 4090 is sold out so there's really no practical upgrade path from the 4080. This is probably why you're having trouble finding it...
For the 4080 Super, if that's what you're set on you can find those on sale at sites like Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, and from Nvidia.com itself for the "Reference version" card which is sold directly by Nvidia.
For many people the reference version usually feels premium.
It's kind of sketchy...
No doubt it's probably a sweet monitor but $675 feels a lot for a 27" these days.
I would wait for more discounts on Gen1 as Gen2 rolls out.
I got my Samsung 34" G8 OLED for $649 brand new on Black Friday.
I'm guessing there will be bigger sales and markdowns as new inventory rolls in that...
There's nothing silly about video games or pc graphics cards these days.
If you want to help cure cancer, you can do it from your own home using a high end graphics card with folding@home project.
People have exploited advanced graphics cards to literally mine for money.
There are...
