I pulled the trigger and ordered a new x61s.
I got just about the most loaded linux (hopefully) friendly version I could get (besides bluetooth, which I don't really care about) My macbook is fucked and after that experience, I told myself I'm just going to do what I should have done and get...
I have an old 3 gen. 20GB ipod that only lasts about an hour. It works great otherwise, but I was thinking about doing the battery replacement program at my local apple store to see if I could get a refurb there with the better battery (I guess, hopefully a 5G)
Has anyone else taken them up...
on the new t61's, the wide screen version has a max of a 7 cell vs. the standard screen at 9 cell.
When I looked up specs on the batteries, from what I can tell the 7 cell actually operates at 14.4V with 5.2Ah and the 9 cell is at 10.8 at 5.2Ah...
so 74.88 Wh vs. 84.29 Wh....
I think...
I haven't checked it under my faculty/staff discounts yet... that might be cheaper. On the apple webpage it has a faculty/staff thing now and it was the same as the student discount.
I might upgrade if it really is that much faster. I feel that apple just takes things that have been around...
I haven't decided to upgrade or not yet. Right now I'm broke, but it's only 65 bucks for students.
Do they ship a new version of GCC with it? I've never done a mac upgrade, but I'm kind of hesitant because I fucking hate recompiling all this CERN software for school I need to use. It...
I was hoping to get a better card for my computer. I run ubuntu only on it, and frankly I'm kind of sick of the ati with linux in general.
Hoping to get one cheap. I have 2 80GB IDE hard drives (I think WD w/8MB, but I can't remember) I could trade towards it.
make expose on the corners of your desktop... like my bottom left is show desktop, and bottom right is show open apps. It makes the drab/drop thing mentioned earlier even easier.
2GB of ram or 1GB and 120GB hard drive (and subsequently 80GB portable HDD) My hard drive has about 10 or less Gigs free, but I have a desktop too.
I don't think the 80 is quite big enough.
Basically, what would you do? 2 gigs of ram or 1? I program, surf internet, do some simulations...
I can't find anything decent. I was really looking for something mainly to edit id3's by downloading album info from amazon since my library somehow got fucked up with all track 14 for track info, and a couple are a little bit wrong. On pc I used and loved mediamonkey, so if that's any...
I pulled the trigger. So far I'm fine. If apple drops the price within 2 weeks I guess I can get a bit of a refund from the bookstore, that's what the guy said.
