So you have tour 5900X in air and the 3090 WC/120Rad?
How are the cpu temps, noise at load and heat?
What air cooler are you using for the 5900x?
Thanks!
This is exactly what I was speaking about ^
It's not completely impossible....
It can be done with the z270 Strix and Trident RGB setup, but the hoses block a good portion of the RGB lighting.
A 52mm hole saw and 60mm fan grill is all you need to modify the case. This leaves all the other...
I just checked out the x299e-itx.
It has dang riser cards on both sides of the CPU socket! Hopefully it can be used without these if desired. The one in question houses a m.2 and SATA3 connectors.
This positioning may also pose an issue depending on final spec height.
The USB slot can still be used if you heavily modify the cable.
However, the AIO works well with Dan's X99 board because of the ram slot locations.
On z270 boards, it requires the hoses to cross over the ram. If you have high profile ram, it will not work. Also, if you have RGB ram, prepare to...
I'm with you there!
Modular PC's are fast approaching the market.
Once Apple does it, I think we will see a rush to stripped down NUC style PC boxes with eGPU docks.
I can personally tell you being able to take an eGPU from office to home is pretty convenient.
It makes on of sense for...
How are you guys obtaining the fan clips for the Noctua fan and LP53?
I purchased a Noctua Fan / NH-L9i kit to use the Fan and clips on the LP53. However, the fan is screwed into the heatsink and not attached with the needed clips.
Note that the Astek will give owners of the Strix board issues due to the location of the ram. (Side where the hoses will cross over)
If you look at Dan's X99 board, the ram is located at the bottom of the board.
I personally had issues because the hoses were not long enough to make the loop...
I reapplied the Liquid Thermal Ultra & the Thermal Grizzly but temps are still out of control. 3:40 into Aida 64 it his the thermal limits. This is with the sides of the case off. The Noctua fan is only spinning at 2000rpm max?. I also have it set with the sicker facing the LP53.
I have no idea...
I put it on both sides. Honestly, I think it's because it only applied a thin layer on each (CPU and Top IHS)
I used loctite dots to keep the IHS in place and held it in place in the Rocket 88 deliding/relidding tool.
That's a relief!
Will tear it all down and reapply the Liquid metal.
I was careful and thin with the application. That was me being overly cautious.
I appreciate the info.
Also, antes to add that my g.skill rgb ram does indeed post and run at 4200mhz. I have updated to the latest bios, so if...
Have it all together now.
Thermals are out of control.. even after delidding.
Perhaps I did not put enough Liquid metal on when I delidded.
AIDA64 fails less than a minute in due to thermal limits. I have the fan at full tilt as well.
Rats!
