NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

On the topic of Noctua fan colors... Or, you know, don't have windows in your cases and stuff it out of the way so you have more desk space. One of the great things about the M1 (aside from great looks) is how much flexibility you have on placement. Mine currently sits behind a monitor...

Consumers Turn Against Skype Since Microsoft Acquisition

So, what are people using instead of Skype? I know Discord is favored heavily in the gaming community.

Barrowch Whale Shark Threadripper Water Block Review @ [H]

Guess it's not bad than the old EK block... the RayStorm looks better with each review. Price performance king right there. Speaking of which, any plans to review the updated EK block?

Ncore V1 No Frame Water Block Prototype Testing @ [H]

I'm thinking it's the small fin area that's preventing it from outperforming the RayStorm outright. I know the EK kit to direct mount makes a notable difference in temps, and that's using the same exact block you'd normally use, so all things being equal, must be the fin arrangement.

I have the same 39x16 in black, they're very nice feet. Have em sitting in a drawer in case I want to use them in another project.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I know a few people here are running the EK Strix z270 monoblock. According to the EK rep at overclock.net, the monoblock fits the Strix z370 as well, with a small caveat. http://www.overclock.net/t/1639340/compatibility-of-the-ek-fb-asus-z270i-strix-rgb-monoblock-with-z370-i/20 So... yeah...

z370 strix is tempting since it looks like the monoblock for the z270 is compatible. Waiting on confirmation of that before I make any decisions... Then my z270 strix would replace my wife's z170 itx board in the Caselabs. Trickle down upgrades!

I need to redo my cables, my next project. I had one come apart, le sigh. Going to crimp and solder this time, instead of just crimp.

NCASE M1 version changelog and suggestions thread

One meeeeeeeeeeeellion dollars! TG is spendy, thicker, and harder to work with IIRC. I believe a polycarbonate pane was being looked at for other projects, which would be a good compromise between TG and acrylic. If I were going with a glass side panel, I'd likely prefer a sandwiched poly over...

The Accelero really is an awesome piece of kit, and seems custom made for the M1. I haven't seen a bad report yet, once it's installed and working.

    NCASE M1 vs. Phanteks Shift

I understand, just wishful thinking. Just seems like a missed opportunity by Phanteks.

I ordered mine from the Noctua Ebay shop too. Bit more money spent on shipping, but they arrived quickly.

    NCASE M1 vs. Phanteks Shift

Id actually like to see the motherboard moved down several inches, so it's more centered in the case. Then you could install a rad at either end. I think that's where this design falls short. I want to say there's another slim tower that allows this... maybe the Silverstone? I'd think cooling...

    NCASE M1 vs. Phanteks Shift

With the GPU temps that low, and the CPU that high, definitely sounds like either a seating issue, or a thermal paste issue... might have an air bubble in the paste. Getting good temps for both components in the M1 is difficult, but it's odd to see great and poor, usually they 'equalize' a bit...

In my experience, you have to have fan spin up and fan spin down times other than 0. If both are set to 0, the fan doesn't spin at all. It's an oddity with the ASUS software. If you're not using the ASUS software, the BIOS settings will let you do that though, IIRC.
