On the topic of Noctua fan colors...
Or, you know, don't have windows in your cases and stuff it out of the way so you have more desk space. One of the great things about the M1 (aside from great looks) is how much flexibility you have on placement. Mine currently sits behind a monitor...
Guess it's not bad than the old EK block... the RayStorm looks better with each review. Price performance king right there.
Speaking of which, any plans to review the updated EK block?
I'm thinking it's the small fin area that's preventing it from outperforming the RayStorm outright. I know the EK kit to direct mount makes a notable difference in temps, and that's using the same exact block you'd normally use, so all things being equal, must be the fin arrangement.
I know a few people here are running the EK Strix z270 monoblock. According to the EK rep at overclock.net, the monoblock fits the Strix z370 as well, with a small caveat.

So... yeah...
z370 strix is tempting since it looks like the monoblock for the z270 is compatible. Waiting on confirmation of that before I make any decisions... Then my z270 strix would replace my wife's z170 itx board in the Caselabs. Trickle down upgrades!
One meeeeeeeeeeeellion dollars!
TG is spendy, thicker, and harder to work with IIRC. I believe a polycarbonate pane was being looked at for other projects, which would be a good compromise between TG and acrylic. If I were going with a glass side panel, I'd likely prefer a sandwiched poly over...
Id actually like to see the motherboard moved down several inches, so it's more centered in the case. Then you could install a rad at either end. I think that's where this design falls short. I want to say there's another slim tower that allows this... maybe the Silverstone? I'd think cooling...
With the GPU temps that low, and the CPU that high, definitely sounds like either a seating issue, or a thermal paste issue... might have an air bubble in the paste. Getting good temps for both components in the M1 is difficult, but it's odd to see great and poor, usually they 'equalize' a bit...
In my experience, you have to have fan spin up and fan spin down times other than 0. If both are set to 0, the fan doesn't spin at all. It's an oddity with the ASUS software. If you're not using the ASUS software, the BIOS settings will let you do that though, IIRC.
Barrow fittings are really good, although they can be a bit tight for soft tubing. Other than that, I've liked all the ones I've used. I also like how you can get triple o-ring fittings for hard tubing. Probably overkill, but whatever :)
I'm using the same rads with soft tubing, but it took a...
Yeah, same problem, to a lesser to degree, as the Evolv ATX TG. If one of those panels was vented instead of glass, would make a noticeable difference for temps.
Is the glass detachable from the mounting brackets? I'd be curious if you could offset the glass from the bracket so it's not flush...
Yeah, if there's enough room for something like the a12x15, then that could definitely help. That mesh Phanteks uses is very restrictive. I don't know if removing it is an option, but I did that on my Evolv ATX and pretty much doubled my airflow out the top.
So, if I'm understanding right, top...
Some pumps aren't designed to operate beyond a certain temp (I think my SPC pump is limited to 45C). The D5 is good up to 60C IIRC, although my D5 equipped system has the coolest water temp out of all my systems, go figure, so haven't looked at this number in a long while. Optimal water temp is...
These predictions always make me LOL. 2.5 years? I'm sorry, but with today's tech, once something is released, somebody else seems to have figured out how to do it 6 months later. Maybe not as well, maybe better, but 30 months claim is ludicrous.
This is nothing but blame shifting.
First, you don't rely on just your "QA" team doing Qualys scans or whatever to verify a patch is installed. You actually check version numbers, install logs, etc, as well. So their reporting system is either broken, or non-existent.
Second, the day the Struts...
Ideally, the blower would be pulling fresh air from the bottom of the case. So airflow outside the case matters as well. If the bottom of the case can't breathe well enough, or if it's getting recirculated air from the other vents, then temps will suffer accordingly.
I've found my fingers in the blades of the a12x15 fans on the bottom of my case a few times. I really need to do the Chapeau radiator mod so I can get those fans inside the case! Probably won't have time for a while though, and what time I've had has been spent overclocking my RAM. So. Tedious...
I made my own, but screwed up on the 24 pin - one of the wires wasn't secured probably and popped out. I'll eventually get around to fixing it. My 8 pin that I made is going strong, although I need to make a 6 pin now...
I run this setup, and I've never heard the fan in my SF600, regardless of air cooled or water cooled. The fan does spin though, since I have to blow dust out of it every once in a while.
The Dark Rock TF really is a fantastic cooler, just wish it was a bit more compatible. I've used mine in the M1, but it pressed against stuff in the Strix z270i. Was good for some of my older builds though. Best idle temps I've ever had were with the TF.
Wasn't directed at you, it's bound to come up again with the release of the new Pixel in 3 weeks. I personally believe it's dumb to drop the headphone jack, it's cheap to implement, and convenient for the end user. But it's not the end of the world if it's not there :)
TouchWiz isn't the burden it used to be. But I agree, non-modified Android is greatly requested. On the other hand, as enthusiasts, our viewpoint is also a bit skewed. Whenever I talk to my non-tech friends, they don't care about modified Android or not, or what version of iOS they're running...
This again. So, first of all, we have product choice. Some products come with headphone jacks, some don't.
I find my phone too large to take with me when I'm going out for a jog, which is the only time I use my headphone jack nowadays. So for me, a phone without a headphone jack is a rare...
There were some tests that showed 16x was only saturated on something like 8k SLI setups. 8x doesn't get saturated on hardly any actual workloads still, at least for gaming.
It was all in good ribbing. He was the only one of our 'group' that didn't either have a Voodoo 1, 2, or Matrox G400 at the time. And the Virge was slower than all of them.
I can't remember if I was still using a Voodoo Rush, or if I had upgraded to a Voodoo Banshee at that point. I skipped the Voodoo 2. I had a buddy at the time who I said was using the world's first 3d Decellerator in the S3 Virge...

I've been using Noctua fans off and on for years (although my current builds favor Corsair's ML line for full sized 25mm thick fans), and you mostly don't see them. Could always paint or sharpee them I suppose if it's that bothersome.
Yeah, the new Noctua's are superb. I was using FW121s before, and they're definitely quieter while moving more air. And the FW121s were better in turn than the Scythes I have. Don't have solid numbers though with current build.
I have coil whine, but it's not any worse than any other GPU I've owned. Definitely not a screamer, and completely inaudible when the water temp gets high enough and my fans spin up a bit.
Chrome HW Acceleration is finicky. Likely requires an update to support Vega properly. I hadn't noticed your issue, but then I'm mostly running Edge on my AMD box due to some... oddities with Chrome not related to what you were seeing.
