May want to phpmyadmin, makes things are easier. Also mysql administor, which can be downloaded right from mysql website. May I suggest SMF instead of phpbb. http://www.simplemachines.org/

I do tech support for a popular monitor company. Also own a few samsung monitors. A 20 and 19 model. Totally normal. AFAIK happened with any monitor that is running DVI. One benefit to DVI imo.

Check into gallery, it's great software. Gallery2 imo sucks compared to gallery1, but either way, it's good stuff.
