How can the orientation of the cooler have such an impact?
Heatpipes does not work with the same performance in every orientation.

It won't fit, I tried. The 80mm one does fit, here is the link:Here's a question / suggestion for folks with a Dan on hand...
Is there not room for a Noctua 14mm slim fan, at the top of the case, above the mobo / PCIe riser, where it takes the 180 degree bend?
Referring to this shot, it seems to me that the slim NF-A9x14 might just fit there!
Keen to hear back!
I didn't know a fan could actually fit up there and be useful, thanks lads.
Here is how Shavv did it:
P.S. you will have to tighten the bend on the ribbon cable and you do risk breaking it I suppose. If you look at GPU side the ribbon cable has a really tight bend so I should be ok. The real danger is damaging the solder connections to the PCI connection. So if you bend it make sure not to out put any pressure on the PCI circuit board.
Just use a splitter? These small fans use very little power.I have a reevan vanxie fan (it's from a low profile cpu cooler) under the mainboard, 80x10mm pwm. I used about 3 layers of 3M double-sided tape pads to keep it from scraping against the bottom. Motherboard temps overall dropped about 5C with the curve only at 30% and it's next to inaudible. I'd like to use a second one up top but I'm out of fan headers and I'd rather not use a molex or sata converter.
Thanks. Guess I won't be doing it though, doublechecked online while I was out and the Elite 130 side fan has a width of 15mm. Back to step one, wondering which way is best before buying anything
There are only 13mm so a 15mm thick fan will not fit above and under the board.
akasa ak-fn076 80mm slim fan
Ah ok, honestly I haven't really heard anything good about the 40mm fans. Noisy and they don't push much air. I researched them quite a bit. Also the cost goes up when you have to buy multiple fans too.Figured already, nice to have the official word on it though. Good luck to the guy who wants to use the 12mm fan, hopefully sanding it down will get them a result
I didn't mean just that (floated 3x40mm fans as intake or exhaust) but yeah, I see that's the specific fan used.

My 980ti currently has a ek block on it and it used to have evga hybrid cooler on it before that.
So for me to use it in my v2 I'd need to procure a reference cooler for it, but there's none for sale on ebay or anywhere else.
Are there any two slot aftermarket heatsinks that anyone knows about that would fit in the dan case and support reference 980ti pcbs?
I have an EVGA ACX2 Cooler for TITAN X (maxwell)...should work on your 980 ti?

It’s mine
I will start my kraken mod when my alphacool 92mm radiator arrives
Inside...^^...92mm out on top or inside?
OK!Inside...^^
I will change PSU loction
PSU(Power supply unit)OK!
...GPU?
Thanks Kim!
But, i'm really asking what gpu in the build, a short one? Reverse gpu?

Looks good. I just ordered one to see how I like it. If it's good enough I can save a bunch of money from the other bag.

[...]3D printed duct vs the paper one, maybe because it's a bit larger and covers >80% of the motherboard?
Anyway, here are some pictures:[...]
Thanks Kim, great card & interesting projectView attachment 55686 View attachment 55687 View attachment 55688
It's my plan ^^
(My GPU is Titan XP)
I was really impressed by the results 3-5°C cooler on idle and 8-10°C load with the fan duct vs without.
Did you ever end up getting/testing? How did you like?
