BLOODBORNE - Gamescom gameplay trailer

How many bosses have you taken out? Just to get an idea of where you may need to go next... (perhaps go to temple of oedon), did you open up the large main gate around that area yet?

Four so far.

Cleric Beast.
The graveyard guy
The mini gun guy
and that spider witch lady in the chalice church

and hmmm, let me check if i have. I still have the key in my inventory.

I don't think the mini gun guy was a true boss, perhaps a mini boss??

Anyhow, yeah open that gate, it'll open up another area for you.

Nope. If you go through the Tower of Oedon (where that weird guy/girl in the red robe is kneeling on the ground). You would need to head out left side and then head up the stairs to the right and just hug that wall as you go up (there will be a few baddies along the way). Once you get to the top, there will be a LARGE barred gate that you can open.

well, i found out why i lost insight.

theres an enemy that will literally suck it out of you.

Welp I some how managed to get to the Unseen Village. F*ck this place lolol

Just picked up a used copy at Gamestop for $49.49. Get to join the fun this evening. If at some point tonight you hear distant screaming and profanity, that will be me. :)

With a used copy either someone finished it already or someone gave up I think the person gave up.

lol I agree...the game is hard as hell (and I'm a Dark Souls veteran)...the lamps (bonfires) also seem really far away from each other...and you can't just sprint past areas as easily because there are large groups of enemies everywhere

I've logged maybe 30 minutes combined between Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1. I am so screwed. I can't wait. :D

I have a feeling I'll be pretty close to beating the game by sometime next week. If I didn't have real life commitments (ie. Work, S/O, etc.. I'm pretty sure it'd be much faster).

I think I'm gonna do it - I'm going to grab a PS4 today finally (I'll keep it forever most likely). Now's a good time as any, and having slept on it, I think it's the right thing to do, especially with a cool game out now to really pull it all together.

Anyone playing this on a 4K TV?

I am. It looks terrific in stills, but the framerate irks the hell out of me. Supposedly it's due to issues with the game's frametime and it actually prevents smoothmotion/interpolation from smoothing it out, too. If that can fix that, the game would be an all-star. That's my only gripe.

I haven't even gotten to any boss yet and feel the game is hard...the regular enemy types are harder then the Dark Souls 'normal' enemies (mainly because they tend to travel in packs and you need to separate them)...I think I'm going to restart and pick the Hunter Axe...I've been trying to tweak my game style to fit Bloodborne but I'm going back to my ground and pound STR style...I hated parrying in Dark Souls and while different this time around I still hate it so I'm going to lose the gun and 2 hand my Axe...parrying in Bloodborne might be even harder as you need to be fairly close to the enemy and if you miss you're screwed even more because you don't have any shield

Whatever you do, don't quit.

I think I had one of the worst experiences in the first portion of the game. (Never played the Souls series for more than an hour)

12 hours it took me, 12 hours to get to the cleric beast and beat him. lol

I don't think I've played a game for that long with out much progression or any at all.

But then again, each time I died and each time I still die, I'm rewarded with knowledge on what I could have done better.

After beating the cleric beast, I had a sense of accomplishment that not many games give to me.

I've played many fighting games over the years, but this puts me in the noob category from the get go. Not many games can demolish my morale like this one did. lol

For that, I've come ro respect this game even more.

Since the first level, everything hasn't been easy, but definitely not that hard to where it will take me 12 hours to get past something.

It's as if it took me 50 to 60 tries to get to the " Oh I get it now" phase.

it's taking me around that long as well lol...mainly because I keep starting a New Game every time I die before retrieving my Souls (or echoes)...I have no intention of quitting...reminds me of the very first time I played Dark Souls

the part I keep dying at on a regular basis is those 2 giant dog/werewolf creatures on that bridge...I'm wondering if I should just run past them...every time I try and separate them it doesn't work and both of them get aggro'd...plus they're so aggressive and I keep getting trapped in a corner or blocked by an object like a tree or wall

There's an easy way to deal with them. Since you've died a few times, a minor hint won't hurt you :)
Sprint past them and make an immediate left down a staircase and into a dark room. They're too big to fit through the door. There are enemies in the dark room, but they're far easier to deal with than the werewolves. If you still want to kill them, you can hit them in the doorway.

Ash that's a shame. I'm sure I'll still enjoy it, I have high tolerances to that kind of thing somehow. Hope it's no different with this game.

Also, I've done it. I'm part of the cool kids club now:

Managed to find a collectors at best buy, that was a awesome surprise.

^ heh. Same bundle I got. I never played TLoU on PS3 but always heard how it's an absolutely essential experience for every gamer. BLOODBORNE and TLoU, talk about kicking the new console off with a bang!

Where the hell am I supposed to go after killing the 3rd boss ( starved beast)? The old man in town says to 'ascend to Oeden Chapel' so I assume that is the tower area with the guys in wheelchairs shooting at you? When I get to the top the damn door is locked. Is there a key somewhere? Did I miss this?

Oh and also I noped the hell outta Unseen Village, that place is a fucking death trap. I think the enemies are much higher level as well.

Yes! I'm setting it up now, more pumped than I can handle. Almost as exciting as when I got my gamecube in the early 2000s. I don't think I ever really became an adult, hah.

I also got TLOU when I got my PS4 a few days ago...as great as that game sounds it's going to have to wait until I'm done with Bloodborne

that tip worked great...those guys were easy once you get them stuck in the doorway :D

cool...thanks for the tip

Another tip or two for fighting the wearwolves: they always attack straight forward and have a pause in their next attack.

So let them attack and just keep moving and hit from behind.

OR, get two or three molotovs and done.

A Molotov takes well over half their health.

str or skill build doesn't really matter much. game is more unforgiving because unlike dark souls, there is no poise stat to make you an immovable object while getting hit

you will get stunlocked hard in this game and die repeatedly because of no poise stat

I still love the game though

also I think the stamina bar regens wayyyyyy too slowly in this game. they want this to be a faster style of souls game yet the bar regens at the same rate. wish it regenerated faster

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-bloodborne-performance-analysis

Seems frame pacing is causing the weird issues with FPS jittering. It suppose it also explains why turning on interpolation makes the game nearly unwatchable since the effect is magnified by 2x or 4x.
While I always hate 30fps, there's something about this game that actually bothers my eyes. I'm having a blast in spite of it, but if I could use interpolation I'd be much happier.

they updated the article to also show stock PS4 hard drive loading times compared with 7200rpm HDD, hybrid SSHD and full SSD...

Darkbeast Paarl took 3 tries. First two times were brutal, don't know why I couldn't dodge.

saw that a guy was level 197 today... wow

also got invaded for the 1st time today, didnt want to die so i ran into a boss area that i havent even seen before, downed him in 1try with maybe 1 health vial (and this is like the 13th boss). Fuck invaders!

How many bosses are there?

is it me or is it hard to see where your blood stain is located...it's hard to find it...it looks like every other puddle on the map...it becomes an issue when fighting a boss...if you lose track of the stain then you risk losing your souls...they need to make it more clear (visible)

what the fuck.. i beat the game just now.... there were shit i still wanted to do in first run WHAT THE FUCK

i guess i'm going into NG+

I don't think it's that hard to see. It's rendered differently than the other blood specter stains.

I mean as well, if you know where you died, you should be fine.

yeah thats why im being very careful.

Im at Mergo: middle, im just wondering what this lady in a white dress is? I don't want to go on before figuring it out. I can't seem to find any info online.

:p

at this point, i think game is actually pretty easy

bosses are way too forgiving and blood vial animation is too fast

i beat last 4 bosses on first attempt with exception of final boss which took 3 attemps

i remember spending half a day on 1 boss in previous games

so the game just ends without warning like Dark Souls 1?...I like the Dark Souls 2 way of having to select NG+ from the Majula bonfire
