EvE online?

my cousin has a mining barge i don't but i do have a transport ship.. so i just mine with the vexor til we have enough cans to the point where i can continuously run back and forth and never have to stop. we specifically mine fiery kernite and luminous kernite.. fiery kernite has the highest profit margin in high sec space.
Really? Pyroxerxes is netting me quite a nice amount of isk once it's been refined.
and no L1/2 missions come absolutely no where close to the amount we make mining.. we tried it before. both me and my cousin ran seperate missions. we did something like 25 combined missions and made roughly 20 million.. and quite frankly i'd rather sit and stare at ships mining for 15 hours then having to run back and forth turning in missions and doing those boring ass L1/L2 missions. at least with the L3 missions they were challanging as heck and forced me to actually pay attention.. the down fall is they were expensive as heck to run in my vexor having to constantly repair, buy ammo, more drones, better guns, and better armor got expensive.. :p

Ahh kk. It has been awhile since I've ran missions as a young eve pilot in a cruiser with low skills.

thanks for the suggestion on the pyroxeres.. looks like the tritanium price increase the last few days has kicked up its value.. last time i did the ore chart check kernite was around 10 isk more.

I'm playing and loving it. So far we have no problem with super blobs in Delve.

TEST and Goonies. being unskilled players they are, field blobs of frigates, up to bc's, times three your fleet every single time. Every single time they get owned.

The real problem is 3/4th of eve is in one coalition now.

Oh and DRF eats shit.

Ask whatever you want.

Also, Oberon Inc. is recruiting skilled players. We are not afraid of fighting larger gangs or fleets and always honor the enemy. We will never try to form a gang three times bigger than yours just to win.

Anybody have any experience in planetary interaction? I have a very simple 2 planet PI setup. Extracting two different resources which I will use to create the next tier. The idea was to gain some understanding on this stuff works. I noticed that as time goes on my planets extract less and less resources.

My question is, how do I maintain the colony to supply my extractors. Im using long cycle times and after a few days my factories are mostly dry. I knew this would happen in hi-sec and all of the guides iv read dont mention anything about what happens when extraction stalls. I tried rearranging my extractors with no big result. Do I leave them to extract for the entire 14 days in this case and then move them? Should I have gone with quicker cycle times? I know planets regen but Iv read it is slow. Am I missing something?

Not exactly an expert but I dabble with PI a little bit: you could do a few things:

1) Make sure that the planet you're extracting from has a relatively even distribution of the resources you're planning on extractings. This way you don't have to move the extractors that much.

2) You basically hot-spot hunt. You find a hot-spot, plant extractors near it, set a day long cycle and repeat until that hot-spot is mostly dead. Then find another hot-spot and repeat the process again. This does require a bit more PI skills to be at 4 or higher.

3) Once the resource you want dries up, extract a different and abundant resource near your extractors. Give the planet some time to regen the resource you want. Refine that abundant resource into its P1 form and either sell it or keep it for a different project or to pay for the P1 part you want.

I generally have cycles of 24 hours for PI. Considering that I made some poor and lazy choices as to where my extractors and launchpads, I'm only making roughly 60 mil a month from PI.

Keep in mind most people that write those guides do their PI in low-sec. In empire it's almost not worth the effort as the hot-spots move around too quick.

Thanks for the tip, I will try extracting a different resource.

I know hi-sec isnt ideal but considering I barely got my investment back, I was hoping for something a little more. It was also test to see how the system worked. Maybe ill train for T2 indy ships and try it in low sec.

I get that threads are moved into the [H]ard Gaming Community forum to drum up more traffic for it but honestly moving this one here is just reaching. May as well put all other threads that talk about multiplayer in here since some [H] members play those games.

PI was that final bullet that penetrated my hull. It's one of the worst things they did to the game. PI, Capital ships, and pretty much 85% of what they have done in the last 2 or so years. It kinda sucks because the game was really fucking awesome.

If its PVP that you want to learn about, I recommend hitting up these guys:
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/OUCH_(Player_corporation)
https://gate.eveonline.com/Corporation/Open University of Celestial Hardship

Good PVP teachers IMO.

But in the meantime I recommend reading the following links to get all caught up to speed on Eve:
http://www.isktheguide.com/:
A free PDF that shows you virtually all the ways to make money in Eve.

http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Main_Page:
Don't join Eve University as they're constantly wardecced but their wiki is chock-full of info about ships, fits, ways to make ISK, tactics, etc.

Then it was wrongly created in here by a guy who's new to H.
It just doesn't belong here because there is no affiliation between this thread and the "Hard Gaming Community", I am surprised that this needs to be pointed out.

Thanks for the info, I am not really looking to PVP much if any, mainly looking to build up my wallet and skills currently.

simple matter, find newb corp, pew pew roids, earn their trust, jack their shit. pretty sure this is still the eve online way.

I don't play anymore, but I remember having a lot of fun when our corp was still in high-sec space by "can-baiting" ore thieves & can flippers when the opportunity would present itself. We'd have a small group of mining ships just mining 'roids and dropping the ore in a can, but I would sit there with a BC/BS with some mining lasers on it to make it look like I was only equipped for mining. The secret was having a passive targeter equipped with tackling slots and drones / weapons. You could have them locked up and ready to tackle as they approach your can, and they would wonder how they were suddenly tackled and popped the instant they touched the can. Much fun, much fun...

When we moved into null-sec though, the money making was a lot easier, but got boring quicker because we were in the drone regions. Not much to do but tank rogue drones all day, and I wasn't that good at PVP so I never had much fun when we did ops.

I have 4 accounts, well 5 currently but the 5th is just to train up a nyx holder and a couple more cyno alts, and I love the game, although since playing BF3 alpha I've been on a break from Eve as I satisfy my fps addiction.

It's funny to see people complain about Hulk prices, when I started playing they were over 500 million each and were fairly rare sights, at least in high sec.

It's also funny to see people complain about not being able to make isk as it's never been easier and there are far more options now to make money as well.

saw they finally added implants to killmails, not sure why that took so long to implement, seems relatively simple on the surface.

I always found the ticket to fun pvp vs exhilerating shitting your pants pvp was your attitude on loss.

Ride something that you don't give a damn about losing, and it's all fun and games.
Go out with your top of the line boat, all your implants, and expensive guns...shit gets intense quickly.

I'm surprised you're even wasting your time pointing out something that doesn't even really matter. theres tons of threads that don't belong in the sections they are in on this forum, get over it.

agree, the money making is easy as hell now. especially if you get 1 or 2 other people and work in a group. have 2 mining and 1 transporting you could easily make 90-100 million in 8-10 hours if you mine the right things.

if mining is all you want to do i highly suggest using these 2 resources, they will save you a crap load of time.

http://eve.grismar.net/ore/full.php (just add the prices from your region and hit apply and it will give the average amount per m3 of that ore)

http://www.fluidorbit.co.uk/ (ore map, doesn't seem to be working right now though)

the best one i had was a couple weeks ago with my cousin, we were jet can mining and these jackasses were flipping cans on another belt when some one mentioned it in the local chat. so me and my cousin figured it was time to have a little fun.. we left my second account mining at the belt, he grabbed his battleship, i had my noctis which has a 55km tractor beam range. so i warped in 50 km out from my jet can, he warped in 20km out. the idiots decided to show up and try to flip the can. the guy opened the can but before he could get anything out of it i pulled it out of range which then left him open to attack so he died a horrible and funny death.

I did a trial of Eve a few months ago. The people were fantastic, helping me learn, giving me money, etc. But soon I realized how much time and effort was involved, and how "unfriendly" (can't think of a better word at the moment) it was. I remember going into combat, getting killed, and then I had to buy a new ship with all the equipment on it all over again, which took a lot of time. I was like "WTF isn't this supposed to be a game?". Yes I know, it's not WoW, but still.

I still care about EVE and since there aren't many discussions about it on [H] I feel strongly that this one is needlessly buried in the Hard Gaming section with which it has nothing to do rather than be out there in a section where it gets far more exposure. The only reason I saw this was because I was happened to look for the Minecraft thread.

theres a new eve thread every month or so in the gaming sub forum, people post in it for a couple days then it disapears because no one bothers to look past the first page. so of thats the case at least it stays on the first page in the hard gaming sub forum.

its all about risk vs reward. if your willing to take the risk of losing your ship then thats your choice, theres plenty you can do and not lose a ship. but the best option is to play with friends in my opinion. the game gets kind of boring if you don't. once you start adding more and more skills and getting bigger and bigger ships it gets a lot more fun. if you play the trial account right, within the first 6 days you should be able to run cruisers. by the time the 14 days is up you should be able to run battlecruisers and almost be able to run battleships. once you get to the cruiser stage just rape the L1/L2 missions and get as much money as you can out of them. by the end of the 14 days on my trial account i had over 20 million sitting in my wallet plus a destroyer and fully loaded cruiser and had enough skill points for a battle cruiser once i subbed my account. after 30 days i'm already running a retriever mining barge and a iteron V for transporting. in about 2 weeks i'll have enough SP and money to run freighters.

A friend and I just started playing, we were wondering if there is a way for us to share a central storage of some kind. We want to stock pile minerals till one pf us gets refining trained more. We are only on day 3 or 4 so very new to the game. I don't wanna stop playing lol damn work!

Hmm, two ways I can think of: One, create your own corp (can't be done on a trial account IIRC), open up a corp office, and from there you can create your corp hangar and set it up to allow only certain people or people with roles. Might be a little more complicated that I just said.

Second way: Anchor a Giant Secure container in an asteroid belt in a system with a sec status of .7 or lower. Set up a password for it and give that password to your friend. However you would be limited to only 3900m3 of space.

The Corp option would probably be the best. The secure cans disappear after 30 days I think and is small. That 3900m3 would be filled up real quick. Do Corp hangers even have a limit?

I don't think they do.

I think the only limit is the number of different item types but I think thats a limit of the game itself and its some ridiculously high number, i can't remember.

Thanks, started a corp, just gotta get something working to pay for office rent. Game is fun so far for sure.

Played since beta. Canceled a few months ago and haven't looked back....yet. Everything in Eve requires large quantities of time. 0.0 fleets for example. We're talking a whole day for a fleet op, especially if it included capitals. And some might say "Well, just log out". That doesn't work so well when you're flying a 20bil isk ship, will be stranded in enemy territory when you get back, and will have to get another fleet op going just to get you out.

I also just stopped having fun. PVP is now about the bigger blob, no skill required.

Im actually just starting to get into EVE, a friend gave me a 21 day invite, so Im planning on trying it out and hoping I can grasp anything on it.

Looking forward to getting blown to hell by the rest of you!

The tutorials are pretty in-depth and I recommend doing the starter missions as they give you a lot of stuff to get you on your feet. Back in 2003 when there weren't any tutorials then yeah complicated would be an understatement. lol
