Hi,

I was trying to set up my Lan back home so that I could access my Internal FTP from my flat.

Its a messy Network so you might want to look away if you have a weak Stomach ;)

Anyway,

I have a Computer named Server ingeneously. 2k Adv Server with IIS.
My Dad's computer runs XP Pro and connects (Dial up :() to the net.
Theres also a Laptop which has Apache.

These are connected via a 4port 10/100Mbit Hub which has been fine.

Within the Network I have no problems connecting to http on the Server or Laptop, likewise I have no problems connecting to FTP on the Server in the network.

I setup no-ip on my Dad's computer, and in the advanced settings for the firewall, told it to allow FTP traffic through to the Server, and HTTP to the laptop.

When I try useing the external hostname (ISP or the no-ip one) I cant get anywhere usefull in the network, but w3c.org's validator can get in, so HTTP traffic seems to be working without a problem.
So, I sshed into a remote shell, and tried to FTP in, but I nowhere, It says connected then it eventually says Service unavalible.
When I try ftp to the external name from inside the network, it comes out unknown error number.

Any ideas where I should be looking to find out why its not working?

Make sure when FTPing from the outside to use passive mode.
