Aloha-
I have an older PIII motherboard (amptron PII-3741LMR) with AMIBIOS (flashed to most current offered bios 7/2/1999) and I want to turn it into a linux based file server. My problem is that it will not detect my 80gig hard drive. It will detect a 10gig hard drive though. I am wondering if there is a workaround to this. Other wise I will have to do something else with it. Any help would be appreciated.

P.s. I checked into this and it seems that I am stuck behind the 32gig barrier with the amibios. Anyone been able to get around this? :(

i believe you can fix it with a PCI ATA card. shouldn't be too expensive anymore.

indeed, a PCI card will employ SCSI drivers and there is no limit
that is by far your best option, employing Dynamic Drive Overlays
are the other work around, but there are considerable drawbacks

Thanks for the help I found a spare promise ata card that I had and it worked.
