Go for one of the Toshiba's.. Toshiba may be heavy, but they're some of the best built machines around :)

Go for the Compac NX1000 I think. 9000 64DDR Pentium M power, and a nice Built in Intel wireless. Stay away from Toshiba

That new eMachines also has the ATI 9600 mobile graphics.
That thing is loaded for under $1600.

emachines one. That's just... sweet. I think I'm gonna sell my dell for one.

For the laptop, I also vote for the Toshiba. Something about eMachines in general doesn't rub me the right way. I had an eMachine before and hated it (PSU died), but thats just me.

Wrong.. Sagers have the best built laptops.

Sigh...what Best Buy do you go to? Mine doesn't give me a choice...and even though the original purchase price of my laptop was $1636, they gave me a $1249 laptop...the eMachines one...which I like, but I wanted the Athlon 64 version. Think I should take this up with corporate?

hell yea u should, but they could reply with "well, it doesn't matter because the PSP says something equal to what was damaged"

i always get lucky

Also guys, i went w/the VAIO because it's so small and light, and i need it to carry around in a book bag w/me, and i don't want a heavy 17" laptop :(

But if i wanted a laptop to keep at home and carry around occasionaly, i would have gone w/the toshiba. I might try to see if i can get that emachines though....

OMFGWTFBBQ!

I never thought I'd see the [H] reccomend an E MACHINE!

(although, that is a fucking sweet package....I wish I weren't happy with my X31 right now...)

I've somehow never seen a Sager here in Canada. Will they say "Sager" on 'em or are they one of those companies that get's rebadged often?

Only because they've really changed.

The original emachine went out of business in 2000 (trigem was the real company, and they made really shitty mobos at first for HP). The American CEO bought the entire company, and started over, using industry standard parts (they use WD hds, etc...) and striving for quality and low price, with a minimum of included crapola. They've suceeded.
