What codec should I use to play movies on the 360

I have some movies that I want to watch on my 360 when burning them to a regular 700mb CD what codec should I use, would WMV work and is that the highest quality codec the 360 supports. Most of the movies are things like funny clips I've downloaded from the web I also have Advent Children I wanna try out.
 
WMV is a sure thing.. it'll also play MPEG II's, but i'd stick with WMV just to be safe. I'm not sure if it will play movies off of a CD-R, but go ahead and give it a try.
