I just bought an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (128mb, 256bit) to replace my worthy, loyal Radeon 8500. Should be receiving it within a day or two. Any gamers with the 9800 Pro playing UT2004, Ghost Recon, etc.? What are your thoughts about the overrall quality and speed in games?

Best card I ever had, plays all games I have fine including Painkiller & Farcry. I would assume Doom III & Halflife 2 will run excellent on it too.

I think you´ll enjoy the speed and quality increase...dont worry just take your time to install the new puppy when it arrives :D

UT04 on my 9800Pro is sweet. Handles 4xAA/8xAF @1280x1024 just fine. Just make sure you got a rig with enough horses to get/keep those minimum frames rates up.

this is Paco08, changed my name...

I'm running an Athlon XP 2400+ on an Abit AT7 with 768mb PC2100 Crucial ram

I also went from a 8500 to a 9800Pro, HUGE jump. What else are you running in the system it is going in?

One of my first "real" video cards was a 8500LE, man it took a long time to save up for that card, but it was well worth it :) , that was the card that convinced me to stay loyal to ATi

Has anyone gone from a 9800XT to X800pro/xt? Would I notice a difference or should I wait?

There is a good size performance jump, but spending another $500 when you just spent $450 on a 9800Xt seems kinda insane, but hey if you have the cash, have some fun :p

Enjoy the 9800Pro, it's an excellent card. I upgraded from a GeForce3, it was worth it!

I'll be doing a pretty good jump sometime here soon. I'm going from a (underclocked - by powercolor?) Radeon 9700pro to an x800 Pro.

I hope to see some nice gains here and there. ;) I'll be so glad to get away from that old card, it won't even let me OC past 297/297...I get artifacts.

But yea, enjoy that card. I popped that in a computer I built from my little brother and it rocked his world.

I upgraded to a 9800pro from a GeForce4 MX420, and i'm loving it ! :D

The 9800 pro runs 98% of the games that are now available fine, except Far Cry. Don't expect to run that game at high res with AA/aniso. (Also, the game needs 1 GB of RAM to play smooth.)

I play FarCry at 'high' settings, 1024x768 and 4xAA/8xAF on my 9800Pro just fine. Bogs when I zoom, other than that, it's at an exceptable 35-60fps outside and 30-90fps inside depending on lighting intensity. X800XT o please o please ship soon.

I doubt that, considering that an X800 Pro runs Far Cry at an averag of 39-46 fps at 1280x1024, 2x AA, 8xAF. And that card is about twice as fast as a 9800 pro.

i upgraded to a 9800pro from......TnT2 M64!!!
its like i was blind and opened my eyes after eye surgery
the awesomness(is that even considered a word?)

GF2 32MB MX400 to 9600XT... I was crying when I first played UT2k4 on it... :p

heh imagine my feeling after playing ut2004, i wish id taken before and after screens to show my sceptical friend it was worth the money
his philosophy is "ill buy the card when its worth 50 bucks"

I've jumped from a GF3 ti500 to a 9800pro and I was just speechless.
Now I hope the same will happen once my X800XT PE arrives at the store.
