Just called my local computer store out of blind luck, they have 1 X800 in stock, now with my name on it. I was going to have a cheeseburger for lunch, now it'll be a new video card :) wooo wooo !!

hmm... just called to verify.. its the Pro. I'm reading benchmark differences between them... I'm wondering if I should just order the XT PE online instead ...

is the $50-100 price difference really worth it ?

12 pipelines for a "Medium" price range card ruins it for me... it needs 16 like the XT...

The 6800's (Mid and high) have 16 pipes...

Technically you could fix that...

Ok, I picked up the Pro for $389. Now.. I justified it all by this ...

1. I'm most likely not going to get the XT PE
2. I'm selling my 9500pro for $120 tomorrow.
3. I'm collecting $150 from a friend tonight (owed)
4. Its my birthday on 8/3/04 (Doom release)
5. If I didn't sell my card tomorrow, this guy was buying elsewhere.

So basically by tomorrow night I would have paid $130 for my new X800 Pro. Not a bad deal. Plus I've never been one to buy the 'Top' of the line.

I'm happy.

Yeah, voiding your warranty rocks!

I see a warranty as saying, "Hey, we know you could get X much more performance from this, so we're putting a warranty on this to discourage you" ;)

Warranties scream for voiding.
