Are nanoparticles hazardous to your health? A recent study conducted by scientists at the University of California at San Diego and the VA Medical Healthcare System seems to indicate there is a health risk.

Experiments revealed that iron oxide particles less than 10 nanometers in diameter stunt the growth of nerve cells. Separate in vitro experiments at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have also concluded that nanotubes shorter than 200 nanometers interfere with human lung cells.

uh...doesn't this go with inhaling ANY particles is hazardous? well aside from something natural like pollen or something. why doe it take studies to figure this shit out?

We're all gonna die.

Lungs especially dont like sharp little particles that dig in and cant get pushed out through the nirmal mucous processes. BLACK asbestos and rock/coal dust particles are the most common offenders.

But yes anything in the way of tiny particles are not a good thing at all to breath in. Plus the really small stuff this refers too, gets past your typical Homedepot type mask.
